If you were 13 stone at full term, how much did you weigh once baby was born?!

I’m hoping I’ll be 11 stone after a couple of weeks, is that wishful thinking?

I’m slightly obsessing over my weight

I’m only 28 weeks now but from what I’ve heard, it’s pretty unrealistic for most women to drop two stone within a fortnight! Sounds like wishful thinking to me, sorry!

July2020baby · 22/07/2020 10:15

Surely baby, placenta etc weighs a bit?

I lost over a stone after delivery but I had a big baby. I don't think 2 stone is likely.

mynameisntlouise · 22/07/2020 10:29

Yes baby, placenta and fluid will all be weight lost after you give birth, retained fluid can take a couple weeks to loose aside from amniotic fluid. You might weigh less, it's not likely to be a few stone though, and your body is likely going to look different even if you get back to your original weight eventually.

*lose

limpingparrot · 22/07/2020 10:31

I was 13st at the birth and then around 11st 9 after a few weeks. Then I had to work hard to get down to 10st 4!

Bubbletrouble43 · 22/07/2020 10:32

During my first baby I went from prepregnancy 8.5 to 11 stone at end of pregnancy. At my 6 week check I was 9.5 stone. My baby was 7.7 lbs and breastfed..incessantly.. . I think it helps with weight loss.

July2020baby · 22/07/2020 10:38

Losing the weight isn’t going to be fun, hoping I’ll be too busy to be worrying about what I look like for a while

Ginfilledcats · 22/07/2020 10:39

Just a warning, even if you do lose the weight quickly (I did) I ended up with a flabby loose skinned tummy (currently 6 weeks pp) which for me is worse as I never had flab before.

I couldn't care less though as my DD is amazing!

Rebelwithallthecause · 22/07/2020 10:42

I was about 13 stone full term and was 12 a week after birth

I’ve not weighed myself since but the weight dropped a lot through breastfeeding and having no appetite for the first few weeks so wouldn’t surprise me if I was 11 stone within 2-3 weeks

My tummy doesn’t look the same but I’m in my old clothes

Rebelwithallthecause · 22/07/2020 10:43

This is a totally different experience from last time where I put on weight after birth! But I had bad PND and just sat on sofa eating biscuits for weeks on end

July2020baby · 22/07/2020 10:43

@Rebelwithallthecause thanks haha you’ve made me feel better!

I was 12 stone 9 full term and 11 stone 5 two weeks later, think I lost a stone after birth, DC was 6 pounds.i was 9 stone when I got pregnant so put on a lot of weight during pregnancy, I went back to a strict diet after though and managed to lose it

sallievp · 22/07/2020 10:59

I was exactly 13 stone when giving birth, then 11 stone 3 3 weeks later! But took a year to get back to 8 stone 7...a long painful slog!!!

nokia3210567 · 22/07/2020 11:03

I put on a stone six weeks after birth 🤣

greysome · 22/07/2020 11:12

I normally weigh around 10 stone (bmi 20) and was 14.5 stone the day I had dd. I weighed about a week later and was only 10lb down (dd weighed 9.2 so not sure how this worked!!)

However, breastfeeding, watching what I ate and lots of walking with DD in the sling for naps... and I was back to 10.5 stone in 5 months. Couldn't shake that last half a stone until I stopped breastfeeding though.

If I had another pregnancy I would try to gain a bit less (4.5 stone... mainly attributed to eating my body weight in dry roasted peanuts for 6 months). But I wouldn't sweat the weight gain, it came off easily enough and is a very distant memory now. Try and enjoy your pregnancy and having a newborn and things will fall back into place.

20viona · 22/07/2020 11:14

I put on 15lb during pregnancy and was back in my jeans at my day 5 check up. Baby was 5lb.

Moltenpink · 22/07/2020 11:15

You’re not being vain at all, your health and well-being are very important Smile

July2020baby · 22/07/2020 11:16

@Moltenpink thank you

Feel like I’m just going to go into hiding for the first few months post baby 🙈

Raimona · 22/07/2020 11:24

I dropped 2.5st within a few weeks after giving birth (including the weight of the baby). I still don’t look nice though - too many stretch marks and loose skin.

BumbleNova · 22/07/2020 13:05

Honestly OP - you really really won't care. Your body is about to do something amazing. Plus you will be so wrapped up in your new baby, it will feel completely insignificant. Breastfeeding meant I was in my pre-pregnancy jeans 6 weeks post delivery. I also did lots of walks with baby in the sling - good for both of us.

July2020baby · 31/07/2020 06:49

Baby is a week old now and amazing!

I’ve lost a stone so hopefully by 6 weeks I’d of lost some more to

@July2020baby I didn't weigh myself but when they did it at the hospital I was 12stone (pre first 8st 2 and couldn't get under 8st 5 after. So 8st 5 before this pregnancy).

On Monday at 9 weeks PP I am 9st 7. I am EBF so hoping it's just that that is making me hold onto this extra 1st 2, and it only still being early days. I cannot fit into my old clothes yet.

I am a bit depressed about it to say the least.

RowboatsinDisguise · 31/07/2020 07:51

I was just under 12 stone artery last time and dropped about a stone immediately after birth, and another within a few weeks.

This time I’m already almost 12 stone at 26 weeks so get the feeling it will be harder to drop! 😩
