Constant oral thrush - HELP

Has anybody else had a problem with oral thrush? I’m 25 weeks and have had it on and off with treatment for around 6 weeks now, it’s driving me insane! There’s only one treatment that’s safe to take in pregnancy and as soon as I stop taking it, the thrush comes straight back!
I’m asthmatic and apparently the preventative inhaler I use is a trigger. I’m also on iron supplements which is also a cause along with being pregnant.
Has anyone any tips to help? I can’t bare to ring the doctor again but it goes to my throat if I leave it untreated and gives me a cough 😩

That sounds awful, have you or are you going to be checked for gestational diabetes? Persistent thrush can be a sign of diabetes. I hope it gets sorted soon for you

This guy, right here.
I was getting constant oral thrush along with erruptive papilitus. It's irritating and sore and an absolute pain in the arse to get rid of.
Diet. Your diet can help it. Sugar, and other carby goodness like bread, are a big old trigger for it. Especially sugar, refined or naturally occuring. Avoid it like the plague.
I also (this is very much not environmentally friendly) bought a big old multipack of toothbrushes from a pound shop. Changed my toothbrush every day after some vigorous tongue brushing.
Did the trick along with the horrible drops.

@thetangleteaser I’m going to ask for a blood test today as I’ve had a few cold sores too so I just have a niggly feeling that something isn’t 100% although I do feel ok in myself.

@MizMoonshine oh dear, baby and I have a super sweet tooth so I guess that could be it. I think we’ll have to try cut down! I don’t actually get it on my tongue for some reason. It’s worse on the back of my throat which is really sore

Yeah I'm a sugar demon, too 😭

Ugh the throat sounds horrible! Bless you.
You're more likely to get thrush and cold sores popping up during pregnancy because your immune system isn't at its tip-top, baby is getting all that priority goodness. Don't work yourself into a panic about diabetes, but definitely ask for a test, particularly if you're all about that sugar.

Salt water gargling might help you too.
