Think 3 weeks max .

GirlCalledJames · 20/07/2020 22:34

8 weeks.

Babyvibe · 20/07/2020 22:47

2 weeks really heavy, then about 4 weeks light

Can I ask ladies whilst you still have catheter in what do you do???

GirlCalledJames · 21/07/2020 08:09

While you have the catheter in you can’t move from the place it’s attached to, but you also don’t need to. You have to ring for a nurse to change the baby.

Not always true. I had a catheter in for around 12 hours post section and was perfectly able to walk around my room, take a shower and do the things that my baby needed.

With regards to the original question, around a week I think then most of the bleeding had stopped. I never bled particularly heavily either

MrsH497 · 21/07/2020 08:31

It was 2-3 weeks medium to light bleeding had another bit of bleeding a week or so later because I was overdoing it with housework.

Catheter I was told by the midwife I had to buzz if I needed to get baby out partly so I wasn't twisting. I was back on the ward by 3:30pm (baby born at 1:21) and catheter was removed by 1pm next day. I used those hours to make sure I was keeping on top of the pain relief and to enjoy just staring at my baby! Had no need to push myself to get up until the next day.

I bled for 7 weeks after.

I only had the catheter in overnight and they just wedged a maternity pad between my legs and had inco pads on the bed. Lovely!

6 weeks for me. It gets lighter as time goes on.

userabcname · 21/07/2020 09:04

6 weeks. Then got my first period at 8 weeks. Thanks Mother Nature!

strawbmilk · 21/07/2020 09:20

Only 5 days bleeding for me. I questioned the MW as I was worried it was so light but she said it was quite normal.

I was on fast track to leave the hospital after 1 night and I was expected to walk to the bathroom and empty my own catheter in order to be discharged. I was horrified after having a catheter in for DC1 after a foreceps birth and barely being able to move but I was more than able to empty my catheter after the CS.

I am aware I was lucky in comparison to most people

Enjoy drinking as much water as you can with the catheter in!

Thanks guys.
Looks like it can be a range of timings
