Please help, I'm so miserable. I'm 31 weeks pregnant and have had thrush pretty much the whole pregnancy. I've had so many pessaries and creams, all clotrimazole. They've not cleared it. My discharge is now thick and green, it doesn't smell and I'm no longer itchy, the itchiness seems to come and go but I had a 500mg pessary last week and it stopped the itching overnight.

My poor DH and I haven't had sex since I was 20 weeks as it's not very nice down there and I really feel self-conscious about it.

My urine has always been clear, I queried gestational diabetes but I have no risk factors so they won't do a GTT. I'm having regular growth scans as I had an appendicectomy at 22 weeks and she's been plotting fine, average for everything.

I did a lower vaginal swab last week at my consultant appt and that came back clear. I'm having another scan next week but won't be reviewed until 36 weeks.

Is there anything else I can do? I've called the GP again. I'm so fed up with it Sad

Oh dear OP! You poor thing 😫
I haven't had it so far in my pregnancy but I have had thrush in the past.
I used to use ice wrapped in a flannel/wash cloth and put it on bits. Also a shallow bath that's cold. Just enough to reach your hips when sitting down, spread my legs as much as I could and just lay there.
Only advice I can offer if creams aren't doing the job!
Fingers crossed your GP can offer you something stronger to ease your discomfort!

Thank you. I didn't suffer with this with my son - wonder if it's because I'm having a girl this time? Just worried it'll affect breastfeeding when she's here.

Thanks for the tips Smile

Hi, I have been dealing with current thrush for 6 years (at least every 2-3 months), only the oral tablets will clear it up, pessarys do not work for me! Thankfully I have only had 1 flare up during my pregnancy.. 37 weeks now.. this was around 20 weeks and i read that you are not to allowed to take the tablet medication (fluconazole), however it was so bad that just risked it and took one, you can call your doc to confirm if it is safe to do so but I think the further along you are the safer it is!! Worth a try to call your doctor and ask if you can take one of the canesten oral tablets!!

Are you having a course of pessaries rather than just one at a time and then a gap until the next single dose?

espressoontap · 20/07/2020 17:13

Thanks both.

@dementedpixie I've had a weeks course of pessaries (200mg), then a break and have had two 500mg ones at different times. I've also had 200mg in between when it's been really bad.

@chelsea2704 I've asked about fluconazole but they're reluctant to prescribe it.

GP asked me to do another swab, which I've done, they're now querying bacterial vaginosis. God this pregnancy has been one thing after another.
