I'm 40 weeks + 1 day and just so want her to be here safely now.
Practically living on my ball trying to bounce her out 😂.

Midwife told me to eat 6 dates a day from 36 weeks as apparently it helps bring on spantaneous labour between 39-40 weeks so I've been doing that but clearly that doesn't work too well! The only 'symptoms' I have is back pain and cramping every evening but it always tails off.

Anyone else in the same boat!?
😊

Me. 40+1 too. BLAAARRRRGH. I'm tired of being pregnant.

I'm walking every day and drinking raspberry leaf tea, should probably try some bouncing too, but after various niggles over the last week I think I'm now resigned to "he'll come when he comes"...

Liverbird77 · 20/07/2020 10:54

I am in to be induced. Lots of waiting around, punctuated by uncomfortable little procedures!

Birdy1991 · 20/07/2020 10:55

Yes! I’m 38+4 and desperate so can’t imagine how you feel 😂 do you know if you can choose to be induced at 41 weeks exactly as I’m not sure I want to go any further than that?

4amWitchingHour · 20/07/2020 11:00

I think it might depend on the policy of your health trust @Birdy1991 - I've got MW appt tomorrow and will be asking about induction options. I think I'm happy to wait to 40+10 atm, but might wait and see how this week goes!

kaxxz · 20/07/2020 11:17

I'm 38 weeks pregnant and I am so impatient to have my baby lol

Birdy1991 · 20/07/2020 11:19

@4amWitchingHour ok - thought they might want me to wait a bit longer! Best of luck, I’m sure you’ve not got long to go 💕

Nelbert19 · 20/07/2020 11:26

I’m 39 weeks today and have been in latent labour for over a week 😭

I had been having hours of mild contractions every day, which then tail off. I’m losing my plug. I’m dilated 2-3cm with bulging membranes and a soft cervix... Then everything just stopped on Saturday, gahhh!!

I’m going for walks every day, endlessly cleaning the house and bouncing on my ball to try and get things going again, but it’s SO FRUSTRATING!

EmilyD21 · 20/07/2020 11:30

@birdy1991 It's trust dependant but my trust will offer to induce between 40+6-42 weeks for overdue babies.

If baby isn't here by Friday then I'll have a sweep and if that doesn't work then I'll be induced next week. Really hoping she will come before induction though! 🤞

I know I'll be offered a sweep at appt tomorrow, but on the fence about whether to go for it. Will probably wait and see when the next opportunity will be after tomorrow - feel quite in the dark on various options and timings!

EmilyD21 · 20/07/2020 11:35

@Liverbird77 Ah sending you lots of luck and best wishes! Not long until you meet your baby 😍

@4amWitchingHour I was offered one at my last appointment but was only 39+5 so declined that one. However I'm pretty sure I'll go for the one this week at 40+5 in hope it gets things moving 🤞. You can always change your mind last minute after discussing it with your MW if you do want to go ahead. I just see it as a better option to medical Induction IF it works!

39+1 today, absolutely nothing happening. I have an induction booked for 40+2 (only because of ivf) and an attempt at a sweep tomorrow but I doubt my cervix will be reachable. I so desperately want to go into labour naturally but it's not looking hopefully. Doing lots of cleaning, walks and ball bouncing and I feel nothing. Good luck everyone.

Nelbert19 · 20/07/2020 12:25

@4amWitchingHour I was examined by the consultant at 38+3 because there was a question about if my waters had broken and while she was there she said I was 1cm dilated with a favourable cervix, so offered the sweep. I had never intended to have a sweep before my due date (if at all), but the consultant said that if things were looking favourable then there’s a 1 in 4 chance of going into labour within 48 hours so I went ahead. No harm, so why not! Certainly felt like it moved things along, even if I didn’t go into established labour

you could ask for an examination before consenting to a sweep?

ALC1985 · 20/07/2020 12:51

10 days til my ELCS, i cannot wait, counting down the days, think I'm in latent labour as having lots of mild contractions and back pain so praying it may be sooner!

4amWitchingHour · 20/07/2020 13:00

Thanks @EmilyD21 and @Nelbert19 :) yes, I reckon asking for examination and then go ahead with sweep if it seems favourable is a good plan.

Earlier on in pregnancy I was fairly set on having no intervention unless absolutely necessary. Sat here at 40 weeks feeling continuously uncomfortable makes me want to do something to get it all going!!

Birdy1991 · 20/07/2020 13:27

Good luck everyone our babies will be here soon 😃!

Hollielouise · 20/07/2020 15:22

ELCS in two days but having the worst back pain and irregular contractions so not sure I'll last that long! 😬

LillyLeaf · 21/07/2020 16:14

The midwife wouldn't/couldn't do the sweep because the head wasn't engaged enough. I have a week before my induction, it's not looking promising I'll go into labour myself within the next week. Really gutted. Hope things are moving along for you all.

WeeScottishWife · 21/07/2020 17:20

38+5 and feeling quite impatient now! My back is all achey today, and I feel so uncomfy at nights.

4amWitchingHour · 22/07/2020 18:52

Didn't end up having sweep yesterday as cervix not quite favourable enough, but effacing happening. Just gotta keep waiting...

Nelbert19 · 22/07/2020 18:56

Aw I wouldn’t worry to much about the sweep @4amWitchingHour - I’ve had 2 with a favourable cervix now and still nothing’s happening. Humph.

My trust apparently will only do two sweeps, so I’m all out now. I’m seeing my midwife tomorrow - do you think she’ll examine me to see my cervix progress if I ask?

4amWitchingHour · 22/07/2020 19:25

I'd be surprised if not @Nelbert19 - even though I didn't have a sweep I found it really helpful to know what was (or wasn't!) going on. All the community midwives have been awesome with me so far, and want to do what they can to help you feel as comfortable as possible both mentally and physically. Hopefully yours will too?
