Hey!

First time mum here and just after some advice on good shops for prams really (actual shops where you can try them out rather than online). Popped in to John Lewis and mamas and papa's so far, for nothing more than a wander round - just wondering if that's the best place to start or where else is good?

We're based in Hertfordshire and happy to travel a bit if needed!

Thanks!

Hi OP,

So weird that you are Hertfordshire based as I was about to comment and thought "this person probably lives miles away!"
We are in Essex but just on the border- Herts girl born and raised.

I went with my Mum and Sister to Bush Babes in Cheshunt on Saturday and they were fantastic! Ordered our pram.

Also I've heard of Kindercare in Potters Bar but haven't been. Was going to go but have got pretty much all that we need from the baby shops ... just nursery furniture and little bits to go now. So I can't recommend it but it looks good.

Happy Shopping! 😊

I booked an appointment at Babyplanet in Derby (due to Covid its one booked couple and one walk in at a time). Theey were fantastic and gave us £200 off our chosen pram!

Highly recommend Groovystyle in Berkhamsted.
They are v v knowledgeable and have a good range of prams and car seats and also do good deals.

Check and see if you have a pushchair expert showroom near you. Ours is about 40min away but we're gonna go.

I am in the same boat and want to see the product I am buying especially with some of them topping the scale at almost £1k for a travel system.

We've booked an appointment to go to the showroom. You get 90min with an expert who will, I hope, go through your needs and be able to recommend systems suitable. I have a model in mind but I don't want to just buy from seeing it online. Usually online shopping I'm fine with but I want to feel the weight, try to use it myself so I know I can easily. Gonna be a daily use item for 1-2 years so it needs to be right.

They're only allowing people in via appointments and they sanitize everything as well as wear PPE so made me feel very safe in going.

They're now doing personal shopping appointments at Mama's and Papas again; we booked one a couple of weeks ago and I didn't have high hopes but it was really brilliant! We got to look at all the buggies and car seats and have a go with the ones we were interested in (with wipes of everything before we touched). We even got to try the buggy folded in the boot of our car and have a go at fitting the car seat. The assistant was super knowledgeable and helpful, and we sorted out delivery whilst we were there - the buggy only took about a week to arrive. You also get a £100 voucher if you spend over £1,000, which is pretty easy to do, depending on what you're after.

I know John Lewis are now doing demonstrations and you can test them out.
I've found them the best! Especially with price, customer service and warranties.

LHill32 · 20/07/2020 18:38

Thank you everyone! Yeah @Nombie I'm with you, for something that can top out £1k, I defo want to feel and touch it (and bang it about a bit to make sure it's sturdy!! Grin

That's good m&p let you try it in the car, we've just got a hatchback so size is a definitely consideration for that!

Thanks again everyone

We've just had our pram delivered, from Trendy Baby website. My friend bought hers from there as well and she is very happy with the purchase. We have to assemble it, cannot wait
