Breathlessness at 11 weeks

Has anyone else experienced breathlessness on exertion at 11 weeks. I have seeked medical advice who seems to think it's just down to pregnancy. Been on antibiotics for 5 days no help. Bloods normal. Not covid.

Wondering if this is common so early on?

I had this at 14 weeks, couldn't get up the top of the stairs without gasping for breath.

Was admitted to hospital for a week because I had ectopic heartbeats and went through lots of tests for a pulmonary embolism.

It was all put down to pregnancy in the end, but I did need an inhaler by about 25 weeks pregnant just to be able to get out of bed. It was a crazy time.

I'm absolutely fine now, and baby was fine but was very uncomfortable. Nothing like this happened in my first pregnancy.

Hope you feel better soon, and don't feel like you can't go back to the GP to check it out if you think it's getting worse or you get any chest pains.

I know you said your bloods are all normal but I had breathlessness throughout my whole pregnancy and it was a symptom of anemia. Did you get your iron levels checked too?

Junegirl20 · 19/07/2020 20:56

Yes iron level was normal. Also bloods ruled out PE. I would just like some relief but glad others have had similar symptoms.
My OH seems to think I'm panicking but if not better in few days I may revisit GP

I felt more breathless as well. Could it be asthma? My asthma got a lot worse in pregnancy. Previous to being pregnant I wasnt even using my inhaler.

I had the same. It is hormonal. I had asthma up to puberty, then it went. I'm not looking forward to seeing if it returns after menopause!

I'm only 8 weeks and have started getting breathless. I googled it and it says the increase in hormone progesterone can cause breathlessness

I'm also 8 weeks but with twins and started to have this too. When i had my DD I always experienced it - even when just having a conversation on the phone - it's completely normal. Remember your heart is having to work harder to pump the extra blood in your body that you get when your pregnant

This was my first symptom. I still have it now (18 weeks) all tests are fine and was told it is common in pregnancy.
