Swelling 7 days after giving birth

Hi all

I had my little boy via csection on 13th July and he is amazing. I had really bad swelling to my hands and feet beforehand and I half expected them to at least start going back to normal but they are not.

My midwife says they will eventually but I can't see it. I'm wearing my after surgery ted stockings and I am on injections for blood clots.

Did anyone else have this and how did you manage / get rid of it? It's starting to get me down as I can't wear my wedding ring or even fit my feet into my shoes.

I had this on my ankles and feet, they looked like basketballs. It definitely took a week or so before my feet started to look normal.
Congratulations on your new little star

Took to day 10 for mine to start to go down!

I remember this; I didn’t have swelling while pregnant so I was completely mystified when this happened. I think by about 2 weeks (maybe 3 at a push) it’d gone as it’s just your body getting rid of fluid

It's just the fluid. Move as much as possible, don't stay sat down for long. Put your legs up when sitting and keep hydrated.

I had this really bad. Legs so inflated i could barely move. I had spoken legs during pregnancy but it got wise when labour started, then after emcs got even worse than before!

It does go down. Move around a bit, try not to stand still and put your feed up when you sit.
