Swelling & headaches

Has anyone experienced swelling and headaches that have come on together? I’m 17 +5 weeks and over the last few days my ankles, one more than the other, have been excessively swollen. At the same time I started getting headaches most of the day every day. I called the community midwife and was told that headaches and swellings are very common and just to drink some extra fluids and see how my blood pressure is at my 20 week scan. I can’t help but think these are clear signs of pre-eclampsia and shouldn’t just be waiting 2 weeks?
Has anyone had any experience with this?

I don't think preeclampsia starts that soon. I developed it at 28 weeks and that was considered quite early.
If you are concerned though, get your blood pressure checked.

I don’t think they diagnose pre-eclampsia until 21/22 weeks.
But it’s worth getting checked by your midwife.
