Can anyone help?
So I’m 10 weeks pregnant and have the worst bloating. My stomach is so distended and I could pass off as 8 months pregnant! Is this normal? If so..how do I help at all? It’s honestly painful and embarrassing!
I weighed in today for the first time in 5weeks to just keep track and I’ve gained around 8lb. I’m still exercising as normal and can’t say I’m eating enough to warrant so much...is this likely just the bloat? I’m just shocked as I’m so early in and already gained more than half a stone.
I have past history of bulimia and I’m finding this so triggering and really difficult to come to terms with.

Hey, I wouldn't worry. It isn't comfortable when you feel abnormally bloated but I've heard that it does change in second trimester.
The 1st trimester seems to be the bloody worst by all accounts (I've only got exp of 1st so far!) Rapid rise in hormones, water retention, uterus expanding, morning sickness, tiredness, constipation -all these things are contributing and it's unlikely you will have actually put on 8lbs.
Know it's hard and we're all our own worst critic but try not to worry x

Similar here. Currently 11+3, had excessive bloating since wk8. I weighed 2kg heavier at booking appt (3pm) in wk 9 than I did in the morning! I’ve had to use a bump band and lots of floaty shirts/dresses for work to cover up (and stay comfortable) as swear I look about 5months some afternoons.

Thank you! I thought it was very excessive and probably some Water retrntion/bloat but was just looking for reassurance. It just really got me down, more than it should! I’m finding it difficult to talk to people about this kind of stuff as I’m just told to get over it or give myself a slap!

I was Bloaty McBloatface in the first trimester. It calmed down after about 13 weeks.

Yes I will definitely mention it! Did it ease after 10 weeks with you?

What do you mean, sorry? My weight gain didn't ease - I put on another 2 stone then had ds and it fell off by 6 months postpartum.

I meant did the bloating ease off?I think I’ve just been a bit scared because I’m type 1 diabetic too so tightly controlled by doctors etc and they’ve recommended around 1.5 stone weight gain in total...so if I’m already at 8lbs 🙈

Kind of, but I was pretty much showing by the time it did so it was neither here nor there really. Good luck with your pregnancy Smile
