Scans, too many?

Due to some increased anxiety is it ok to have 2 scans less than a week apart
It's not so much to see anything it's just to help calm my mind

It’s fine physically but mentally how many more would you keep having ? Best to try and tackle the anxiety, 40 wks can feel like forever

it's not so much that it will do any harm, it's more that it probably won't give ypu the reassurance you are looking for and you might want to explore other ways to try and ease your anxiety.

Scans only show a very short snap shot in time....everything could be fine then qn hour later something happens. You could go for 3 in one week but then a day later something happens.

I am not saying for one minute that something bad is going to happen to your little one, I'm just trying to explain how short term the relief you get from a scan is.

You could go every 2 days for your entire pregnancy but if something is going to happen, it will happen.

I'm not against private scans by any stretch....I've paid for a few extras myself.....but I just worry this is more of an anxiety issue that you should talk to someone about rather than just paying for repeated scans.

I had a fair few privately and nhs for my DTs. Pretty much weekly at the beginning privately from 6 weeks on, then was scanned every 4 weeks from 12 weeks onwards.

So yes, in my non medical opinion it’s fine to have two scans less than a week apart (I did!), but in my experience/opinion it may well be helpful to try and explore ways to ease your anxiety in other ways, and perhaps try mindfulness. I didn’t follow my own advice, had horrible pre natal and then post natal depression afterwards. I say that not to scare you, it may well not be an issue for you at all but it’s worth keeping an eye on just in case.

Thank you all for your replies @OnlyFoolsnMothers @sel2223 @MuchTooTired I would be lying if I said it wasn't for reassurance I know it's only in that small second but I've been having an awful few days and seem to have lost all excitement I am trying to become mentally stronger xx

How far along are you OP?
I've had 3 scans so far, 7 wks, 13 wks & 20 wks but all through the NHS, none of them private.
However I had just booked a private scan as I'm 30 weeks soon and my DH hasn't been able to come to any of my scans to date so it's more for him to see his baby boy and also a little reassurance for me seeing as though I'm not due anymore via the hospital.
In my opinion maybe 2 or 3 extra scans throughout your pregnancy. As long as baby is moving well and you're feel good then you really shouldn't need anymore.
Maybe meditation and pregnancy yoga to try and ease your anxiety.
Just think how much money you will spend with all the extra scans! 😬😬😬

Due to being ill thru both my pregnancies I had weekly scans from about 20 weeks. It's not dangerous, but speak to your midwife about your concerns.
