How do I know everything is ok?

Hey everyone, I’m 16weeks 2 days and I feel like I’m not doing great. I had my last scan at 12 weeks and since then I honestly can’t tell if my bumps growing or not. How do I know everything is ok inside. At the moment I go from high to low with my moods at times I’m positive and tell myself it’s all gonna be ok and at times I feel like absolute crap wondering if something is wrong. I don’t like feeling like this.

It is really hard before you start feeling the baby moving alot. I booked a private scan at 17 weeks and found out the gender it made me feel so much better.

First baby?
My bump probably didn’t pop until 20 weeks and I felt movement about 18 weeks, proper kicks after 20.
I don’t think it’s abnormal to feel and see very little at this stage. I would probably focus on your anxiety unless you have additional health concerns you will drive yourself mad for 23 more weeks/ 18 years

@thebearwentoverthebumble waiting until I’m 17 weeks to book the private scan. Just so scary not knowing.

You'll start to feel them soon and the. You'll know. It's hard I know, but try to relax. Maybe lay down in a quiet room and you'll feel some small movements. I'm 26 weeks and would say was only 20weeks when I felt things regularly. Re bump size, the is literally no normal so you can judge anything on that. Congrats

@OnlyFoolsnMothers Yep first baby, probably why I’m so anxious. Honestly don’t like feeling like this. My OH tries his best to keep my mind off it which helps a lot but I go back to thinking about it. Really hoping the private scan calms my nerves.

Yeh you need to address the anxiety, most people don’t get a scan after 20wks, that’s a long time to be on edge. Is lock down making it worse? I know it’s easier said than done but you need to focus on other things.

Jazzy1990 · 15/07/2020 18:00

@Wecandothis99 can’t wait to feel some movement. I still get period like pains on back and front and that doesn’t help with nerves. Thank you, congrats to you aswell!

@OnlyFoolsnMothers lock down has 100 percent made it worse. Waiting for the end of this week before I book my private scan. Nervous for that.

I answer to your original question....you don't unfortunately, and the anxiety doesn't go away!

I'm 36 weeks now and still fret everyday about whether she's moved enough or is she growing properly or what position is she in etc etc

Carabu1 · 16/07/2020 13:56

I could have written this so I feel your pain! I’m 16+2 and honestly the anxiety is beyond anything I could have expected. I don’t look or feel remotely pregnant. I’m actually having quite regular scans because of a cervix issue, but tbh even that isn’t helping much - I just worry if it’s a few days too small, or not moving on scan etc etc....! My only coping strategy is to give myself ‘slots’ each day to obsess and worry and then try not to think about it the rest of the time. Don’t know if that helps, but just wanted you to know you’re not alone!

Jazzy1990 · 16/07/2020 15:14

@sel2223 I guess it’s a case of never being sure. I just I felt movement already.

@Carabu1 glad to know someone feels exactly like me. I don’t have any symptoms either. I feel like I’m in limbo waiting for the 20 week scan to come already :(

Glad you’re getting those scans though, hoping they reassure you even if it’s for a little while.

It’s very normal to feel like that.
I’d say if you have no bleeding, abnormal pain then you can trust everything is ok.
It isn’t always the case, but the odds are very much in your favour.
If you are very worried you could book a private scan. But they can be quite costly. xx
