38+6 today had midwife appointment everything fine and no problems but they want to book me in for induction if I haven't had baby by 40+6 (bit rushed if you ask me)

Had a look in my notes at home as I always do and the note for engagement says "long".

I have had a Google and I can't find what it refers to can anyone fill me in a bit more? It has said "long" since my 28 week appointment so I am assuming that not much has changed and baby is still pretty high up - very happy to be told differently.

Thanks!

Long just means that baby is not lying across your tummy or diagonally (both bad!) but straight up and down. Having written it down I am not sure why but that’s what it means, not much to do with engagement but part of the palpation summary.

It will be an abbreviation for longitudinal.

Oh right Hmm

I thought it was a strange term to use under engagement

Thanks for translating for me Smile

We used to call it long lie. It means what the above posters have said.
