Could this harm my baby?!

Hi,

My husband thinks I'm being silly and over worrying which I probably am but something has just really turned my stomach.
I just was in the middle of eating a little pot of unsalted cashews as a snack, when I found a small dead bug/insect! I've obviously chucked them away now but the thought of it has made me feel sick! And although I didn't eat the bug, it has obviously touched the nuts that I did eat! Im 21 weeks pregnant. Can this incident harm my baby in any way?! Xx

Very very unlikely OP! Don't overthink it 😊

Tinamou · 15/07/2020 11:34

Eurghh! But honestly don't worry OP. Your baby will be fine.

Gross, definitely complain to the company. You have nothing to worry about though, think of all the bugs that are on wheat etc, I cant imagine that they get rid of them all before manufacturing flour. We are all probably eating bugs probably every day (sorry if that grosses you out!)

Hatscats · 15/07/2020 11:46

There’s bugs in lots of things, you just don’t see them very often Grin

Extra protein, you’ll be fine

With all due respect, OP, save your worry for the actual problems in life, not stupid minor stuff like this. It will make your life a lot easier.

StephyRose · 15/07/2020 13:42

@GoshHashana It is not up to you to judge what people worry about. Never had an irrational worry in your life? You must be one of very few.

I think you will be fine @Cooley. Smile I read somewhere once that the body is amazing at filtering out harmful things in pregnancy. I'm sure the takeaways I've eaten are more damaging! 🤣

Thank you so much @Lily2020 @Tinamou @LH1987 @Hatscats @StephyRose xxx

I feel much better about it now! At the time it really grossed me out and I had a little panic and although my husband said it was no reason to worry, I felt like I needed to hear from someone else that all would be ok! So thank you, I really appreciate your reassurance! Xxx

I had a grasshopper jump in to my gravy the other day and still ate my dinner. Earlier on in my pregnancy something like this would make me panic big time but I made the decision not to worry about it, and I feel much better!
