Speculum reassurance

Hi, I had to have a swab taken with use of a speculum which wasn't very comfy but they assured me it's fine they do them all the time, I'm 18 weeks.
I'm looking for some reassurance they don't cause any harm as I'm worried about spotting or if it causes any issues 😞 xx

Hi, when I was having some issues with bleeding earlier on in the pregnancy I had two investigations where they used speculums and a swab during one of them. They did say it could cause some spotting over the following couple of days but there didn't appear to be any risk - didn't seem to cause any problems at all. Try not to worry. :)

I had a week of heavy bleeding at 14 weeks and had 3 speculum exams to check my cervix was closed. I did have 2 weeks of spotting after but that was likely linked to the original bleed - I'm now 35 weeks and baby is currently moving like crazy as ive just had my breakfast 😊
