Low lying placenta at 32 weeks

Hi,
I had 32 week scan yesterday which showed a low lying placenta. I had for once taken advice and not worried myself unneccesarily when this was mentioned at my 20 week scan and really just thought it was a good excuse for an extra scan. As a result I was not very clued up at scan yesterday and never asked much. I'm booked in for another scan at 36 weeks but have been given no advice re no sex, lifting etc and no appointment has been made with mw or consultant.

I got on internet last night and got myself stressed out and so called my consultant's sec this morning. She was able to tell me the placenta is posterior and not covering OS. Consultant and mw are on holiday at moment and don't have routine appts with either for another 2 or 3 weeks.

Has anyone else experienced this and then found it had moved by 36 weeks. I had an emergency c-sec with dd who was 10lb 3 and this one is measuring 34 weeks at moment.

Should I be worried and insisting on earlier appointment with mw or consultant or look on bright side and presume that as they have just gone and booked me in for another scan at 36 weeks theres not much to worry about.

Any advice, personal experience - help would be much appreciated. Had awful nighmare last night dreaming I was bleeding and out of it with dh shouting at me to get it together, woke up shaking and heart racing and wasn't able to get back to sleep for ages.

if placenta is posterior and not covering the os , then it is likelier to be one of the grades of placenta previa that allow a vaginal delivery , it might be near to the cervix, but if not covering it wholly or partly, i think , in my non medical opinion ! , you should be ok

That sounds good. Also, its unlikely to get worse is it? if its not covering now its not likely to cover it in the next few weeks?

AFAIK, it is physiologically impossible for your placenta to go back down . your uterus is stretching and growing upwards...... certainly check with a HCP, be it a MW or your obs.

thank you so much for your quick replies, I feel better already.

I had the same thing and at 36 week scan it had moved right out of the way. I know its hard not to but try not to worry. The edge of the placenta only needs to be 2cm away from cervix for you to have a normal delivery. Fingers xd for you.
