Sorry if this isn't in the right place please move if I should have put else where

Hi im 15 weeks 2 days pregnant baby is due 3rd January 2021 I've recently been made redundant due to the company I work for going Into administration. I've just been looking into maternity allowance and it states that you must send an smp1 form saying why your employer won't pay you, how will I get an smp1 form if the company I work for has gone into administration?
Or do I just tell hmrc that I can't get an smp1 form due the company going into administration?

Sorry if this is all a jumble and I'm sounding a bit thick but I can't seem to find an answer on google. I know it's all a bit early to be worrying about this but I'd rather clear it up now so I know, Thankyou for any help you can give me Smile

www.gov.uk/maternity-allowance/how-to-claim

You'll apply via the job centre and you only need the smp1 form if your employer refuses SMP, not relevant if you aren't eligible for smp so won't be applying and so you shouldn't need the SMP1. That's my understanding!

Congrats on your pregnancy!

Ahh thankyou that makes sense! I don't know why I got it into my head that I would need to get the form somehow!

Thankyou very much Smile

I was in the same situation a couple of years ago. Can't remember exactly how I claimed maternity allowance but I remember it was pretty easy and it came through quite quickly. Depending on how long you've been with your employer you might also be able to claim redundancy money from the government if your company aren't able to pay it.

Thankyou that's reassuring to know Smile unfortunately I'm not able to claim redundancy as I've been there less than 2 years. Thankyou for your help Smile

I'm being made redundant at the end of the month and I'll be 30 weeks. I rang the maternity allowance line to check what I needed to send them. I sent pay slips, matb1 and a copy of my redundancy letter. I've had a message to say they've received my forms so it's all in process pretty quickly.
If in doubt call them, they are really helpful

Thankyou, good idea! I will probably give them a call nearer the time to check that I'm sending the correct things
