Swelling and weight gain

I’m well into my third trimester now at 37 weeks and I’ve noticed a significant amount of weight gain and swelling particularly in my face/cheeks and my feet and legs. I’m not sure if it has anything to do with the fact that I’m carrying a very big boy (already estimated to weight 9lb at 37 weeks!)

Did anyone have similar experience with weight gain and swelling towards the end? And was it easily managed loosing this after birth? How long did it roughly take for the swelling to go down? I miss my old face and my hands when I was able to wear my wedding ring!

I've no advice but I'm 37 weeks and I've noticed my rings tighter this week and some water retention in my hands and feet. I'm worried I'm gonna balloon 😬

This happened to me. It all went. By the six week check I only weighed 7lbs more than usual.

I found you sweat loads for few weeks after birth and think that’s the water coming back out!

Thank you that’s reassuring to hear. Was your swelling also a sudden onset towards the end? I had another GD test today (second one) as the swelling was not this bad before & baby’s on the large side so they want to be sure & rule that out. Also have a feeling they won’t let me go full term as they’ve already expressed wanting to get baby out soon.
I’ll definitely be keeping track after the birth and 6 weeks isn’t too long to wait to somewhat feel myself again!

I told myself it wasn’t a big deal and at least I’ve ballooned (great term as that’s literally what’s happened to me) towards the end when I can hibernate. I’ve literally had to buy shoes that I’d never usually wear two size up just so I can get them over my feet. i do hope yours stays manageable but if not just think it means your nearly at the end :)

I'm 37 weeks and these past few days have been awful. My feet have been going purple and like sausages (unless I keep them elevated).. I've just got back from Tesco wearing my husbands sliders as they're the only shoes I'm comfortable in.

So glad I'm WFH.

My hands have been coming and going for a few weeks so I took my rings off but I'm note noticing my facing is chubbier too.

I'd like to be back at my pre baby weight for Halloween, I think that's reasonable but I'm not going to obsess over it. I have been slightly gutted at not being able to buy shoes in the sales though as I don't know if they will fit when I get my normal feet back Envy

I had ridiculous swelling/water retention towards the end of my last two pregnancies but it meant that once my boys were here I lost 'weight' really quickly and was back to a relatively normal size within a couple of weeks.

I'm now 30 weeks with my third and am swelling free so far but I'm not taking anything for granted!

Good luck for the next few weeks ahead!

For my first pregnancy had massive swelling , 2 stone of it in the last few weeks, started at 33 weeks. They said it was due to the placenta and I also had high blood pressure. This time bang on 33 weeks and in last few days swelling has started again so thinking unfortunately same thing will happen again. I ended up with a emcs and to be honest was shocked that the swelling was worse after for least 10 days, this is normal apparently, then over space of2 days I peed constantly and it all went away and I’ve never felt skinnier -was still overweight etc but without the swelling which was great. All the best for the next few weeks and remember it will pass eventually x
