How long after a sweep did you go into labour?

I had a sweep last night after going into hospital for reduced movement. I was 2cm dilated and having regular braxton hicks.

Just wondering if the sweep worked for you and how long it took to go into labour afterwards?

@Siobhan1989

Best of luck - still time for your baby to come by himself!

I’ve STILLgot huge mucus clumps appearing (isn’t pregnancy glamorous?!).

Siobhan1989 · 13/07/2020 09:20

@Nibblingoncrumpets thank you! Yeah it’s absolutely endless - I feel like I’ve lost 1kg giving birth to tiny aliens since the sweeps. I just think babies come when they are ready. I won’t bother with sweep until future pregnancies after this lol x

Siobhan1989 · 13/07/2020 09:20

In* not until x

yearinyearout · 13/07/2020 09:21

@Siobhan1989

It’s such an emotional rollercoaster, all this waiting! I was induced last time before due date so had not had the pleasure Previously of every twinge setting me
Off on a “THIS IS IT” parade.

Hopeful that OP is in labour as she hasn’t posted in a while! 😬

Emeraldshamrock · 13/07/2020 09:52

I went within 24 hours. I had it about 11am on my first, waters broke around 5am full labour by 9.30am baby in arms 21.30pm.
Some people need a second.

Nibblingoncrumpets · 13/07/2020 10:17

@Emeraldshamrock

How far along were you?

Emeraldshamrock · 13/07/2020 10:20

I had the sweep on my due date. I was at an antenatal appointment and mentioned no signs yet I'm due today.
She offered a sweep within hours the plug came away.

Emeraldshamrock · 13/07/2020 10:21

I'm excited for OP now. Grin

Nibblingoncrumpets · 13/07/2020 10:40

wizzbangfizz · 13/07/2020 11:49

Emeraldshamrock · 13/07/2020 12:33

Today at 12ish. Baby arrived at 17.40 at home 😬

snowone · 15/07/2020 21:48

Never......had 4 sweeps with DC2 and finally went into labour about 5 days after my last one at 40+14 Sad

MUMMA2BEX · 17/07/2020 02:12

@nibblingoncrumpets congratulations!! I had a bloody show Tuesday morning and got induced a few hours later. Currently at home with my little man🥰 sweep definitely didn't work for me as the midwife said there was no difference between when I was examined for my sweep and when I was examined for my induction x

Congratulations xx

Maggie90 · 17/07/2020 03:10

First baby 12 hours but had second sweep because contractions stopped after I went to sleep, I was told that I was 5cm dilated and needed to go into hospital.

Second baby, urghhh .. it took 5 days in total. Midwife said that even if the sweep ‘doesn’t work’, the percentage of women who get to 41 weeks is a lot lower if they’ve had a sweep.

Libmama · 17/07/2020 06:53

About an hour later

Emeraldshamrock · 17/07/2020 08:19
