Feeling disgusting

I’ve never ever had a UTI and I’m a super clean freak. Got a call today from the doctor to be told I have a UTI apparently a small trace of mixed bacteria was found. Feeling really icky, not had any symptoms and now I’m worried I’ll never ever get rid of it. Doctors prescribed antibiotics but I’ve heard once you have a UTI it’ll keep coming back feel gutted. 34 weeks pregnant is enough to deal with

It's nothing to feel disgusting about. I had one when pregnant with my eldest DS and I've never had another one since, he's 16 now!! UTI's when pregnant are quite common

UTI's are common (especially in pregnancy) and nothing to feel disgusting about.
I had one around 16 weeks which I took antibiotics for, now 35 weeks and not had any further issues.

I'm pretty sure you can get UTIs from over-cleaning, or reactions to products. Don't feel disgusting! It's just an imbalance. Believe all the yoghurt ads when they say we need good bacteria too!

It's nothing at all to do with not being clean!

Where have you got the idea that being ' a super clean freak' would prevent utis?

Try not to think of your body in such negative terms , it's doing something quite miraculous.

Thanks ladies, I don’t know why I’ve just always worried about infections and bacteria etc. I know it seems silly, I’m just a very good worrier

I'm sure that's not true about once you've had a UTI they always come back. I've had a couple of bad ones before when I was in my late teens/early 20s, I think maybe due to me not following the advice on going to the toilet before and after sex, but I've not had them for years and years now! Just drink plenty of water, like more than ususal, take your antibiotics (as a worrier about bacteria I'm sure you know to take the full course even if you have no symptoms!) and try to stop worrrying- sometimes this just happens, it's not because you did anything wrong. Have some cranberry juice as well (sugar free, proper stuff if you can get get it).

UTI's usually go away after 5 days and the antibiotics will most likely be for 7 days. They are super common in pregnancy, try not to feel disgusting as it's perfectly normal to have the odd one.
Just drink plenty of water.
Also, try not to clean your vagina with anything other than a warm flannel, don't use products like femfresh as you're body needs to use it's own discharge and good bacteria to keep everything clean and healthy.
