@Avearage
I have mine the week after you. Mine was covering at last scan. They said they offer scans at 36 weeks for partial covering but complete is offered at 32 weeks.
But like the others have said , perhaps this various one region to another. I would have thought for complete covering a scan would be needed at 32 weeks just so everyone is completely aware !

I won’t have an internal scan though. So they might get a bit irritated when I tell them that !!

Mine is also posterior x

KLM19 · 19/07/2020 19:01

@Positivity2020 NHS central scotland where I am. offer them 28 32 and 35. Regardless of partial or covering as it needs to be 3mm away from cervix for vaginal birth. Can I ask out of intrest why no internal? I've already had one at 32 and it doesn't actually go in as to not cause a bleed just wondering if its diffrent elsewhere?

@Seychelles98 that makes me nervous that he has said it doesn't move.. the consultants up my way seem to think there is still a chance for placentas to move 32-36weeks as the uterus is still growning eeekk... guess I will find out in 5 days. :/

KLM19 · 19/07/2020 19:48

Lol I meant growing...

Positivity2020 · 19/07/2020 20:18

@KLM19
Yes it must vary depending on where your hospital is. I think it’s excellent that you are offered scans for those weeks. That’s really good

Internal scan—I’m very worried about bleeding. I’ve had an internal before and so I’m connecting it back to then. I’m not suggesting this would happen to others as I know they would only offer things that were safe
I’m already having a csection for another reason. So personally I wanted just abdominal scans

KLM19 · 19/07/2020 20:24

If you are having a c section definitely not a point at all you are right.. no need to risk anything xx

I'm getting different advise from consultant to consultant at my hospital. After 32 week scan they said it would be a c section and booked me an appointment with a consultant a week later to book it all in. When i came to that appointment the consultant said they don't book it in till 36 weeks as it could still move 🤷🏼‍♀️
I'm completely covering so I don't think it will move and there are other factors like large waters that I'm sure will mean c section is best.
Luckily my next appointment after the 36week scan is with someone else so I'll see what they say.
34 weeks tomorrow and it feels like I've been pregnant forever!

KLM19 · 20/07/2020 09:49

@Apsh2020 it's so hard isn't it! I feel like the last two months have been hard because of the unknown.. that sounds super silly i know but its playing havoc with my anxiety just not knowing... my descion day is Friday and I think the only reason I worry about a C section is my hospital is still not allowing visitors after the birth so my husband will not be able to see baby for a good few days! Breaks my heart... but I know regardless u just cant write a birth plan and dont know what's going to happen.. it's been the longest wait to find out...

Avearage · 20/07/2020 10:18

@Apsh2020 where abouts are you? I'm Midlands Worcestershire and will see consultant on Wednesday 32 weeks, unless it's moved I will update with what they plan to do.... Have you had any bleeding at all? I know baby is still breech but have no bleeding which is making me think it might have moved...... Could just be wishful thinking!!!

Avearage · 20/07/2020 10:22

@KLM19 do your hospital aim for 24 hours and out or do you think it will be a few days? I'm really hoping if it's stayed where it is they book me for 37 weeks and it's a 24 hours and out 🙏, I do wonder if they look at previous births too as I've delivered a week early with other babies so don't really want to be hanging around waiting for a section and go into labour 👀

OP posts:
KLM19 · 20/07/2020 10:36

@Avearage I was told 2 days we would be in Shock
And yes this is a worry for me as my last son was 37 weeks! And my scan and consultation is 35+5 so worried they book me in for the standard 38 39 and I go into labour too!!

Apsh2020 · 20/07/2020 12:54

@KLM19 yes the whole uncertainty of not just baby stuff but lockdown! It's really made me anxious and so much time to dwell on things and the rules changing all the time.

@Avearage I'm Essex way. They seem to be good on letting partners visit and attend compared to other nearby hospitals. Not really fair that your postcode can affect these things.
I really didn't want a c section with my first- they tried to say I needed one coz baby was measuring big (they said 10 but she came out 9lbs) I ended up having a spinal and forceps and a 3rd degree tear so I'm all for c-section this time. They say with planned ones you can be out in 24hrs - I was in that long last time anyway.
Just hope you don't have to wear a mask all the time your in there. That would be awful

Sunsage · 20/07/2020 17:27

I just wanted to come on and say I had my 32 week scan today to check placenta and it has completely moved out of the way, I'm surprised at this but it has, it's posterior to the right hand side now.

If that offers any hope for any of you ladies.

All the best Flowers

KLM19 · 20/07/2020 17:43

@Sunsage that is what they say 80% move by 32 weeks Grin I'm just hopeful for mines to move magically by my 36 lol...

Sunsage · 20/07/2020 18:17

Keeping everything crossed for you!!!

KLM19 · 20/07/2020 18:19

@Sunsage Thanks Grin

Avearage · 20/07/2020 20:10

@sunsage was it completely covering at scan previously??
Fab news yours has moved xx
Out of curiosity ladies boys or girls?? It's ment to be more common carrying a boy...... We are having a boy x

OP posts:
KLM19 · 20/07/2020 20:18

@Avearage Boy xx

Sunsage · 20/07/2020 20:49

@Avearage yeah it was complete previa! I couldn't really work out what I was seeing on the screen but the consultant was happy it was definitely now out of the way!

I didn't find out what I'm having but have heard it's more common in boys!!

Avearage · 20/07/2020 21:20

@sunsage that's promising for us then ☺️ was your last scan at 20 or later?? Also did you suffer any bleeding? I'm at 32 weeks no bleeding and last scan was 28weeks complete covering but I'm hoping no bleeding means it's moved

OP posts:
Apsh2020 · 20/07/2020 21:57

Don't know what I'm having either. Curious to know just how common it is to have boys with this but couldn't find any actual statistics.

Positivity2020 · 21/07/2020 07:12

Girl :)

I also followed a thread on here of two mums who had complete and were pregnant with two girls.

I have read it’s more common in pregnancies with boys also ..... but it seems there isn’t much research or answers into what exactly causes placenta previa. It seems that it’s just indications of when it’s more likely.
