Upper abdominal pain

Hi there,

Im 4+4 weeks and for the last few days I have been experiencing a strange pain in my upper abdomen. It feels like I have been punched in the stomach. The pain isn’t sharp, it’s more like a dull uncomfortable feeling and is centred around my upper left/centre abdomen. It comes and goes every hour or so but only lasts about 3 seconds.

It doesn’t feel quite right - in addition to this I have the usual period like discomfort too and have wondered if I could be the start of a miscarriage. Although there hasn’t been any blood as yet.

Has anyone experienced this?

Very silly question pending.. what does trapped wind feel like? Is it just like bloating? @strawberriesunited

@qwertybored12 for me its bloating, hard stomach, can be a dull ache and it feels like something is just THERE!!!!! And then i can get a stabby sharp pain every now and then, a few gurgles in stomach. Currently suffering with it nowSad does this sound familiar?

@Qwertybored12 I know this is nearly a year old - but I sent you a DM asking a question about the outcome of this situation! I am experiencing the same symptoms to the letter and am quite concerned. Would be great to know how this resolved itself (or that it DID resolve itself) for you! Hope you see this and best wishes.

Hi there, unfortunately for me it did not end well. However with that being said, I did have another miscarriage after this one and did not experience what I was describing above. This leads me to think that it wasn’t linked to the miscarriage at all and ‘just one of those things’.

If you are really worried it might be worth checking if you can get an early scan. How far are you?

@qwertybored12 I had trapped wind/constipation from around 5 weeks until just before my 12 week scan, I’m now 23 weeks and can honestly say that has been the worst part of my pregnancy so far. I was literally almost screaming in pain one night.

I got lactulose from the pharmacy and it’s meant to be for constipation but it really does help with wind aswell plus it’s pregnancy safe!
