Hi,

Title pretty much says it all.

I had an internal scan on the 7th and saw a little blob with a strong fluttering heartbeat. Fast forward 24 hours later and I started to feel period like cramps; later when I went to the bathroom and wiped I noticed a rust / brown colour on the toilet paper (apologies if that’s tmi).
I’d say I’ve had the cramping feeling for 24 hours so rang the EPU who as expected asked me to monitor the situation and if the colour changes or pain gets worse to call back.
Thankfully nothing has got worse. If anything cramping less and now more a dull ache in my lower abdomen; still rusty coloured when I wipe.

I perhaps shouldn’t have but read stories about similar experiences. It feels like 50/50 when it comes to how their experience ended.

I know rusty coloured blood typically signals old blood but with the cramping I can’t help but think something more sinister is going on.

I’ve booked a private scan for Sunday as I need to know what’s happening.

If you feel like you want to share your experience to my symptoms then I’d be very grateful to read. Thanks in advance x

Very heavy cramping and bleeding for around 3-5 days.
DS 22 months is currently wrecking my house.
Positive outcome.
I hope you get the same

@2155User Thanks for sharing and great you have an amazing (but messy) result ☺️
Did you ever discover why you bled or was it just ‘one of those things’? I assume you thought the worse like I current am 😔

Never discovered why.
I just went to the toilet and it was a little bit of blood, but by the evening it was proper bleeding with cramping.
I thought the worst and just assumed I had miscarried but as I was so early on the hospital wouldn't do anything, and unluckily for me I was due to go on holiday in 3 days.
During that holiday I suffered from such severe sickness that I was hospitalised and they scanned me and heard a heartbeat at which pointed my face must've been a picture as I was gobsmacked

@2155User
Pregnancy make our bodies do strange unexplained things.
I can just imagine your shock when you heard a heartbeat especially after all the worry and assumption that you miscarried.

They say every pregnancy is different and now I truly believe that. When I was pregnant with my DD who is now 3.5 it was such a breeze, absolutely nothing to worry or be alarmed about apart from in the end when I panicked about how she’s getting out of me. 😅

I think deep down I’m hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. If it was just the brown/rusty coloured discharge then I’d take some comfort in thinking it’s old blood but it’s the cramps that are really worrying me.

I guess Sunday will provide an answer (hopefully 🤞)

I will keep my fingers crossed tight for you and hope for a good outcome.

Pregnancy is a weird thing and keeps you on your toes from the second you know

I had globby brownish and red period like bleeding with DS who is happy and healthy. I only got cramps after the internal scan which apparently is very common.

MNGal1987 · 10/07/2020 20:42

@Onekidnoclue
Thanks for you positive experience. Hmm I would have loved to have been warned prior to the internal scan that cramping could happen afterwards. At least I wouldn’t be so worried like I have been for the past long two days.

Hello, I too had a small amount of bleeding (red and brown) at 7weeks ish and a scan at the epu showed everything was ok. I am now 23 weeks and since then have had massive bright red gushing bleeds (sorry if tmi) and they have told me upon several speculum examinations I have a cervical erosion which bleeds often and for no reason. Also had bleeding on and off all the way through my last pregnancy and she was fine. I have my fingers crossed for you and a positive outcome Smile

Oh and also to add the doctor at triage tells me blood is an irritant by it’s very nature and so it can explain cramping sometimes depending on the cause
