Hi ladies,

Just wanted to know what your experiences have been if you've had a private/4D scan, I've had all routine scans at the hospital but as this is my partners first child (I have a child from previous relationship) he's understanding about not having been able to see baby scan during this pandemic but upset at the same time.

So we're looking into booking a private scan so he can see, would you recommend this and if you've had one what was it like? 🥰

Xx

I had 2 a private scan at 17 weeks so OH and i could find out the sex together and a private 4D scan at 31 weeks.
They were both brilliant and worth every penny. Lots of precautions in place so I felt very safe and the sonographers were really friendly and thorough.

@sel2223 ah that's brilliant! I think I'm definitely going to book one, it really seems worth it

We had a private scan at 17 weeks so we could both find out the gender at the same time. Honestly the best £80 I've ever spent. The pregnancy only began to feel real for him after the scan and his face was beaming. Couldn't recommend enough.

ChlOeWh · 08/07/2020 12:31

@Lulubon that's one of the reasons why I want to have a private scan due to him saying it doesn't feel real! I can't wait to see his face

Yes! Same for us. I’m sure your partner will feel much more involved if you have a private scan. Plus if you find out the gender together it’s even more special and exciting x

We have booked a private scan so my partner can get to see our baby too. I have only just had my dating scan and had to go alone. Im now 18weeks and have the 20 week scan in just over a fortnight and the policy is still no partners able to attend. I was given 5 photos for free and my partner came to hospital with me and waited outside. He was in tears of joy when he saw scan photo but he feels would like the experience of seeing the scan so he asked me would I be ok if he booked private and of course I said yes.

I'm 30 weeks and just had one last week so my partner could come along as with current restrictions he hasn't been to any scans.

It's a little expensive but worth every penny, we got to see her little face and could even see how much she looks like her brother did when he was born!

Afterwards we were sent lots and lots of photos and videos 😊 I would definitely recommend it x

ChlOeWh · 08/07/2020 12:56

Ah I'm definitely gonna book one then! We already know the gender, we're having a girl 🥰 as I'm 24+6 now but I just want to see his face and with it being 4D aswell it's in so much more detail! We've spoken about it and he definitely wants to book one xx

@ChlOeWh I never thought I would pay for a 4D scan as they used to creep me out a bit but I got swept up in it all and absolutely loved it.
I came away with lots of pics and a few videos which I watch over and over again lol.
I would say 29-31 weeks is the optimum time to go.

Ritchie30 · 08/07/2020 13:30

Same with my DH...I know how much he desperately wanted to be at the scans and obviously couldn’t, which we understand. For me, i decided to wait until after the 20 week NHS scan just so i could make sure everything looked ok until this point then I’ve got a private one booked as a surprise for him 😊 was very tempting to do a private scan earlier but I was concerned that in the event that something didn’t look quite right, I’d have a horrible wait to be seen by the nhs team again.

Haven’t opted for 4D as I’ll only be 24 weeks but may go for another later on depending on how this experience goes 😊

Loved mine.

I had my daughter's at 26 weeks. was a wonderful day that I will always treasure. Her face wasn't as chunky at that stage but it was amazing. She was sucking her toe lol. I had this done at Bradford studios

My sons was done at babybond in Mothercare. As mothercare has gone I'm not sure about locations now. But again amazing. Loved seeing my little boy on screen. He was holding his palm on his forehead like he was defeated 😂

Really loved it. For me it was an exciting special day. It depends on how sentimental you are. There's something amazing about seeing your baby in 4d moving about and actually getting to see the features. It doesn't spoil anything either in my opinion. Makes everything even more exciting

I’ve had one private scan at 18 weeks so far, I booked it as a surprise for my OH (his bday), up to that point he kept saying it didn’t feel real. It was worth every penny as previous poster said. He even insisted we bought a heart dear bear in case he didn’t get to hear the heart beat again. We are paying for a 4D one at 30 weeks (as we would have done that anyway, covid or no covid), I’m a bit of a science geek and find it fascinating.
Be aware though, don’t pay full price if you don’t have to, due to covid loads are doing offers and there are many vouchers on groupon too. It can save you a lot of pennies.

ChlOeWh · 08/07/2020 18:35

@Rainbowafterthestorm I've found an offer for £69 instead of £99 so I'll defo being doing that ☺️
