Hey

I've had ivf FET and went for an early pregnancy scan as I'm getting pain in my left side.. they said all normal but gastational sac is irregular shape I've tried to google this, the nurses have told me to wait 9days for next scan
I'm just wondering if anyone else had this an outcomes etc

Thank you

I was watching a you tube video and the shape was funny as there were 2 sacs one was hiding behind the other
This is not a personal experience just something I watched
Hope everything goes well for you try not too worry x

Annu786 · 08/07/2020 08:32

Ps Not sure I made this clear but the 2 sacs meant twins for that particular lady

@pattaz2711

Hi,

Just a word of warning that in my case it didn't have the outcome I wished for -

I read so many stories from different people about their experiences with irregular shaped sacs and some ended well and some didn't - so my experience doesn't mean yours will follow the same pattern. I would be guided by the medical team looking after you and don't be afraid to ask more questions and I really hope they give you the care and time that you need.

I had an irregular shaped gestational sac on my first scan for my first pregnancy. Sadly the doctor doing the scan said that they generally associated this with increased chance of miscarriage.
The following week I was rescanned and the sac had actually become a regular shape, but there was still no heartbeat/fetal pole, just the sac.
Unfortunately by the following week when I was rescanned the sac was starting to collapse (still with no heartbeat, by which point I should have been almost 11 weeks pregnant) and I ended up having surgical management a few days later as I didn't want to wait to miscarry naturally.

Wishing you the very best .

@all thank you for commenting, it's so hard.
There was a yolk sac an a 1mm fetal pole but to early for a heart beat

My fertility clinic won't tell me anything until next week when they scan me..

I'm in to minds of having a private scan.,

@sunshinefordays I'm sorry to hear your loss hun ❤️

My bloods are still high tho. I've had to get them done at a different clinic

A lot of people are opting for private scans these days they can be reassuring
All the best let us know how you get in
Fingers crossed 🤞

Hi @pattaz2711

I had to attend A&E at 5w 4d due to terrible abdominal pain and dizziness. I was sent to the Early Pregnancy Unit the following day for a scan to rule out an ectopic pregnancy.

The scan showed a pregnancy sac with a tiny yolk sac. What I distinctly remember was one sonographer saying to the other that my pregnancy sac looked a bit irregular. I wasn't sure what this meant exactly, but I assumed it wasn't good news.

I returned 10 days later for a viability scan... and there I saw baby with heartbeat!

I'm now 13w 1d and everything looked as it should at the 12w scan.

The 9 days wait will be agonising, but I'm not sure a private scan before then will be of any benefit as it may still be too early to detect a heartbeat.

I wish you all the best for your next scan and pray for positive news for you xx

@TruffleMama so I'm 5w5d on Monday I was 5w3d.. obviously more worried cause of ivf..

It's just so worrying when they say this to you.. she literally went I don't know where this is going to go.. she said the good this is there is a yolk sac an a 1mm fetal but that's it.. it's so hard I'm not sleeping I'm so worried everything you read is negative..
thank you for commenting

I don't know if a private scan will help in your situation. They want you to wait till next week to give the pregnancy time to progress, at which point they may be able to give you a more conclusive answer. Having a private scan may only tell you what you already know. Just be sure what you will get out of it before you potentially waste money on one.

Annu786 · 08/07/2020 15:54

Don’t hcg levels increase rapidly with multiple birth so I have read

TTC2016 · 09/07/2020 08:22

Sorry you are going through this worry OP. My HCG levels were high due to the irregular sac. It was too big for how many weeks I was and had also attempted to split to try and fix itself. I didn't have a fetal pole though.

I hope your next scan brings positive news x

BenScalesIsAGod · 09/07/2020 08:27

Mine wasn’t good news either. I also had to wait a week, there’s no point getting a private scan any sooner I’m afraid. Fingers crossed for you xx

ChaiTea1 · 09/07/2020 16:05

Hey OP,

I was told I had an irregular sac too. It didn’t go too well for me. My bloods were very high and there was a very strong heart beat at my early scan (Mines was IVF). But I was told to prepare for the worse.

I’m so sorry, I know it’s not what you want to hear but when I was furiously googling, nothing much came up.

I really hope it works out for you xx

pattaz2711 · 15/07/2020 18:21

So I've had my scan today an the sac is irregular an the heartbeat is very slow

OP posts:
BenScalesIsAGod · 15/07/2020 19:11

Did they say what the heart rate is? Have they given you a plan? Xx

pattaz2711 · 15/07/2020 20:45

@BenScalesIsAGod they wouldn't say I have to go back next week told me to continue on medication

@pattaz2711

Any news? X

pattaz2711 · 22/07/2020 20:18

@BenScalesIsAGod thank you for asking, nope nothing baby is still measuring small, well 4 days behind.. told me to wait again

OP posts:
BenScalesIsAGod · 22/07/2020 20:24

4 days is hardly anything though. Must be so difficult waiting all this time. Was the sac still irregular?

pattaz2711 · 23/07/2020 08:18

@BenScalesIsAGod yep the lady we seen was really rude yesteday, so I had a scan Saturday with one of my consultants colleges, an she said weather the sac is irregular there ok with that asking as there is a heartbeat.. she measured it was about 4 days behind.

Monday I had a scan with EPU they didn't really say a lot, but look like it had grown a little bit.,

Then yesterday had my original ivf appointment and she didn't take measurements, she literally went "it should be bigger which is very worrying," yes we can see a heartbeat but it's really worrying that it's so small.. will see you again. Which I thought well how will you know if you havent taken any measurements, an she went this is what everyone is talking about with the sac.. but it has changed since I last went in.. also I think with EPU and IVF ultrasound EPU are a lot more experienced. Anyways so partner said he didn't want to go back there as we've had a few problems etc.. so we have a scan booked at private clinic for Saturday evening.,least then I can compare from last Saturday. They spend 30 mins on you.

The head nurse contacted me an was very apologetic an said that we can have a scan with a different nurse so I'm going to do that next Friday, least then I'll be 9 weeks an then 2 weeks after will be my midwife one.. so I can see what the hell is going on..,

I just wish I had a crystal ball

Wishing you all the best with the next scans. Xx

pattaz2711 · 30/07/2020 15:59

Hey just an update I'm losing the pregnancy. Still has a heartbeat but I'm miscarrying x

OP posts:
Houndabouttown · 30/07/2020 16:04

So sorry to hear that. Did they say how they know you are miscarrying if there’s still a heartbeat? Sounds similar to my loss in that there was a heartbeat but the doctor said the sac looked too irregular to progress.
