Hi I am just after some advice.
I'm almost 5 weeks pregnant and have been having quite a fair bit of strong cramping I guess like a period pain, however I have had like lower left abdominal pain. No bleeding touch wood...
I took a pregnancy test just over a week ago and digital blue said 1-2 and then I retook one yesterday which was when my period was due and it said 2--3...
I am panicking I am having an ectopic pregnancy and just wondered if I was having one would the clearblue test still change.. as it was showing my pregnancy was progressing with the change in weeks.
I hope that makes sense!
Thanks.

Hello,

I have had two ectopic pregnancies (most recent last week - currently recovering from surgery)

First one was 5.4weeks and my tube ruptured. I was having brown spotting with a stitch like cramping pain on the left side of my pelvis

Second one was at 6 weeks - was found as I pushed for an early scan due to my history. Had period cramps for about a week before hand, no bleeding. Also kept getting shooting pains up my bum.

My clear blue was strong and accurate for the second ectopic - my hcg level was quite high. Not sure about the first as I didn't use the digital.

If you are in anyway concerned, phone gp to get an early EPU referral.
Any sort of unusual one sided pelvic pain in early pregnancy is a cause for concern.

Sorry to not put your mind at ease but wanted to be honest.
Good luck x

I had very bad one sided pain at 6 weeks pregnant and attended A&E. I was seen at the EPU for a potential ectopic, but it was actually a haemorrhagic cyst on the ovary I ovulate from. It's quite common and harmless but can be very painful and the pain is similar to an ectopic.

Just to say, this pain was so bad I was literally doubled over unable to speak, move etc. Mild-moderate period pain type cramping is completely normal during early pregnancy when the embryo is implanting.

If your pain is more severe then you should seek help to rule out an ectopic - but it's good to know that it could be something more harmless like mine was 😊

Hi,

I just wanted to add that from what you described I had the same pain around that time. My DH was away and I was on my own scared, constantly checking to see if I was bleeding. I pretty much stayed in bed all day. It was a weekend and I said to myself that if it got worse I'd ring 111 or was still hurting by monday I would see my GP. But in the end Everything was fine and people told me it was implanting / my body adjusting. Whether or not that is true I don't know, i think being anxious made it worse.

But if it does continue / get worse / really worry you then you must contact someone x

Thanks all.
I managed to get some sleep and the pain seems to of calmed down this morning.
I'm going to monitor it over the next few days and see how I go and then if I'm worried I'll phone the drs. I think I am very anxious.
This is my 3rd pregnancy I have a 8 and 6 year old so it's a while since I was pregnant and I can't remember having this type of pain with either of them before.
I think also because I've found out really early with this one I'm even more anxious and know I have a long time to go until my scan.

X

@Naomi89 it's definitely really stressful finding out early! I found out a week before my missed period so around 3 weeks pregnant and I was suddenly really in tune to what was going on with my body. Lots of weird cramping, pulling and tugging feelings, which I guess I wouldn't have even noticed if I'd have found out weeks later like a lot of women do!

Naomi89 · 08/07/2020 10:20

Yes that's exactly what I think is the issue with me.
I didnt find out until I was about 8 weeks with my first and had a scan at 9 weeks because I wasnt sure when I fell pregnant and then with my 2nd I found out about 6 weeks i believe, so finding out about 3/4 weeks with this one I am def feeling everything which I think is the issue! I never had any sickness feeling with either of mine until I was about 10 weeks then it hit me but with this one it's already started as I think it's in my mind.
I'm only 5 weeks tomorrow, so as much as I'm excited to tell my mum I'm holding off until at least 8/9 weeks.
When I book in with the mw at about 7/8 weeks I will mention the pains and see if I can get an early scan, obviously if it gets worse before hand I will phone up sooner.

I worked out I wouldnt have my 1st scan until the end of August start of sept which is so long away!! I just want to know everything is ok.
I seem to be cramping a lot today but mainly all across the bottom like a period cramp.
The Joy's of pregnancy!

@Naomi89 I would really recommend a private scan if that's a possibility for you... just like you I couldn't wait a full 9 weeks between finding out and my 12 week scan so I had one at about 9.5 weeks and it was amazing reassurance and something to look forward to during the first trimester 😊

Naomi89 · 08/07/2020 10:29

I was looking into one. I would def happily pay for one but I've been reading good and bad reviews about the ones near me so I was a bit anxious about it..bad anxiety ridden mum here!
I def will consider one because it is such a long drag and just to make sure everything is ok would really reassure me.
