Newly pregnant supplement Q

Hi everyone.

I have recently (yesterday) found out that we are pregnant. We have been TTC for about 3 months after a MMC last November. I have been taking Seven Seas trying for a baby supplements since January but am wondering if I need to change to a pregnancy supplement now or if it is ok to continue with these?

When I was pregnant last year I was prescribed a higher dose folic acid by the GP, I think this was because I wasn't regularly taking my supplements though as I was feeling unwell. Dr has prescribed them again which I will take but was wondering what other stuff I should be doing.

Thanks!!

Vitamin d and folic acid are the main ones to take. All the other stuff in the supplements are nice additions but not essential for most women.

There probably isn't a great deal of difference between the ttc and pregnancy vitamins so if you still have some of the ttc ones you should be able to keep taking them until you run out then switch to pregnancy ones. You can find the list of included vitamins online to compare what each contains.

We slipped up and bought 6months supply of pregnancy supplements instead of 4 months (I wanted 1x3month + 1x1month packets but my partner bought 2x3month there was a multi buy offer on! ) we looked up the difference between pregnancy and breastfeeding vitamins and the only really difference was extra calcium in the breastfeeding ones. So after birth I will continue with the pregnancy ones until I run out and possibly add a separate calcium supplement.

Great, thank you @Superscientist I checked with the Pharmacist when I went to collect my prescription and they said the same.

So I will carry on taking my pre-pregnancy vitamins alongside the higher dose folic acid for the next 12 weeks. When I run out I will then switch to the Pregnacare that I have left over from last time. 👍🏻
