Please can i have some help? I'm trying to work out how far along i am, i have a regular cycle and my last period started 24th May.
Im using Philips/Avent Pregnancy tracker and its telling me i conceived on 7th June and 6 weeks pregnant. Surely if i conceived on the 7th, i would only just be 4 weeks?
Tested strong positive on 2nd June.
I'm struggling to work out how far along i am and the midwife wont give me an appointment until i know I'm at least 6/7 weeks!!

The start of pregnancy is considered to be from the first day of your last period so about six weeks is correct going by your dates 😊

MaverickDanger · 06/07/2020 20:44

I make it six weeks - your due date calculated from your LMP always puts you at 2 weeks ahead of when you conceived.

So even though the baby didn’t exist, by the time you conceived, it is counted as being two weeks old.

Guess you are looking like very end of Feb!

Pregnancy is taken from the start of thst months cycle so, technically, you are already 2 weeks 'pregnant' on the day you conceive.
So when people count 40 weeks of pregnancy, it's really only 38 weeks (confusing i know)

@Birdy1991 @MaverickDanger honestly I'm so clueless and a FTM so need all the help i can get, that makes alot more sense, thankyou both!💗💙

Prior to your dating scan, the midwife will estimate your date by counting from the first day of your last period (that's an average calculation based on a 28 day cycle with ovulation occurring on day 14).
The dating scan around 12 weeks will then give you an official EDD.

Birdy1991 · 06/07/2020 20:51

@mill2304 no problem- FTM here too and honestly it was all so alien to me at first! The dates might get adjusted slightly from your dating scan as @sel2223 said above.

@sel2223 no wonder i was confused haha

@mill2304 a handful of hospitals are allowing one person to accompany for scans, as long as the scan room is big enough for three people to potentially distance.

I’m a FTM and had my first scan alone, and they couldn’t have been more lovely. It was a very relaxed environment, compared to what I’ve heard normally (crowded waiting rooms and struggling to get a seat!)
