Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem or any advice? For about 2 weeks I've been having really bad sharp constant pain in my ribs and just about that goes round to my back in the same place. Nothing helps rest, paracetamol, hot water bottle. I phoned the midwife on Saturday morning and she said usually they would say put it down to the baby's position but I'm only 26 weeks so not likely and told me to go to a&e to get it checked out. I went up to a&e Saturday morning had blood tests full blood count etc blood pressure urine all ok. Then they said they wanted to do another for a blood clot on my lung. After waiting almost 3 hours for the results they came back raised for a blood clot on the lung! They said my result was 999 and that anything under 1000 even though it's only 1 they don't normally scan even though it's high. So sent me away with injections to have to thin my blood for 3 days and they said they will phone me back today to make me an appointment to come in tomorrow to see how I am with the pain etc and maybe scan. It's been just as painful as it was so I think I will definitely be having a scan. I'm really worried about it but more that I don't know if it is a blood clot or not. Any advice would be great thanks.

Was it a D-diner test? If so, they aren’t meant to be done in pregnancy as always horrendously raised. A&E quite frequently still do it anyway.

Does the pain come and go? Did they consider gall stones?

D-dimer*

Could also be gallbladder? In my last pregnancy I had the pain really bad. Nothing would touch it at all. Ended up getting it out as an emergency 5 months after birth. Does eating something high in fat cause the pain?

Nothing specific sets it off it's been there constant for 3 days now. It's only slightly painful to touch and when I breath in and out it's no worse. A little breathless but put that down to the pregnancy.

I had similar (when wasn’t pregnant) and d dimer test meant I needed a scan to check for blood clot on lung. Involved radioactive dye so they can’t do that while you’re pregnant. I didn’t have a blood clot it was costocondritis (probably not spelt right) which is inflammation between your ribs and it was so painful.

I also had pre eclampsia when pregnant and had awful paid in upper right quadrant which was from liver.

They didn't say it was a D-dimer test.

Had the ct scan and it turns out I do have a small blood clot on my lung. Have to have the injections now until baby is born. Has anyone else had this? I'm seeing my consultant next week but I was just wondering what happens in terms of giving birth etc if it changes anything?
