Panicking about Subchorionic Hematoma

Hi all, hoping for a bit of reassurance. I had a scan 2 weeks ago due to pain, at that time they only saw the gestational sac so asked me to come back on Friday. I did and there was a little blob, with a lovely heartbeat. I was so relived and happy. As the lady was just finishing up scanning me she asked if I’d had any spotting or bleeding which I haven’t. She said there was a small pocket of blood sitting just under the gestational sac which was very common and could just be from implanting. She said I may spot or it’ll just reabsorb and go. Was told it probably won’t be there at my 12 week scan.. I’m currently just over 6. I get home and stupidly google and now I’m panicking and have convinced myself I’m going to lose this baby! I’m really struggling even though they didn’t seem bothered by it!

I had a pretty much identical situation to you. Went for a dating scan and I was 6+1. Sonographer said pretty much the same, asked me if I'd had any bleeding, warned me I may have some, told me it was very common etc. I'm now 25 weeks and all fine. Didn't have any bleeding and it was fine by 12 weeks so must have reabsorbed c

I had SCH with both my children. I had early scans around 6 weeks due to bleeding.

Both times I had spotting / bleeding on and off throughout the first trimester. With my second I had 2 bigger bleeds in the first trimester. Proper bleeds not just spotting.

It was scary the first one, then they saw the SCH so I knew what the second one was.

If you do get a bleed, lie on your left side and see what it does. Then go for a scan.

I had one too, it was there on the 12 week scan but completely reabsorbed by 20 week scan. A horribly worrying time, please try not to worry (easy to say I know)
My baby is now 17. Hugs.

I had the same at my 6 week scan but i think it had disappeared by 8 weeks - i was having weekly scans due to 3 miscarriages. He is now 4 years old and healthy!

Firsttimebump I was 6+1 too!! Twizbe was everything ok with the pregnancy’s after the bleed? I’ve been taking it easy even though they haven’t said anything, mainly just through what I’ve read online but I’m still panicked by it x

Just be aware if you are a negative blood group & have a bleed, depending on how many weeks pregnant you are, then you may need an anti d injection at the time of bleeding if it’s before they routinely give them.

TwillfitandTattings · 05/07/2020 20:31

I had one until about 22 weeks...it was all fine. She’s now nine years old xx

Hi OP,

I had a bleed at 6 weeks then at 10 weeks because of this, in my current pregnancy (expecting DD2). It was absolutely terrifying, but mine had shrunk by 12 week scan and had completely disappeared by the 20 weeks scan. I'm now approaching 30 weeks. Try to take it easy, it's an incredibly stressful thing to go through Brew

I had this at a scan at 9 weeks, they saw a small pocket of blood. I was advised to stop heavy exercise/lifting and to rest as much as possible. I never had any spotting and it had been reabsorbed by the 12 week scan. I'm currently over 34 weeks and have had no bleeding/ no further pockets of blood found on scans. Good luck OP.

tessiegirl · 05/07/2020 22:31

They saw one on a scan I had at 15 weeks but it reabsorbed and by 20 week scan it had gone.

Prettylittlelady · 05/07/2020 22:33

I had this at 9 weeks - by 12 week scan it has reabsorbed.

I had early scans (around 6/7 weeks) in both my pregnancies, both due to one sided pain to exclude ectopic and they commented on subchorionic haematoma, never had any bleeding and it had completely resolved by the 12 week scan and didn't have any complications in the rest of the pregnancy. Have a healthy 20 month old and now 38 weeks with 2nd. It sounds very scary when they say it but it is very common apparently.

My pregnancies were both low risk. With my first I had another bleed at 27 weeks and was told I have a sensitive cervix. From then on I was on pelvic rest and not to carry anything, do too much etc. I had another bleed in labour so had to go to labour ward and be monitored all the time. I had a vaginal delivery and baby was fine.

With my second as soon as I had the second big bleed at 9weeks I was on pelvic rest again and 'light duties'. I had no further bleeds after the first trimester. I didn't bleed in labour and had a beautiful water birth in the midwife unit.

It was less scary with my second as I knew that SCH were part of pregnancy for me. My mum had one with me as well. She had a big bleed at around 9 weeks so it's obviously how we were made lol.

mumworkstudywine · 06/07/2020 04:09

I had the same! Never had any bleeding and it's now completely gone and I'm 19+6 😊 try not to panic lovely, I'm sure yours will do the same xxx
