Exactly that really, when did it drop and how long after did you have your baby? Thank you for any replies x

It didn't!

ShowOfHands · 03/07/2020 15:38

My first engaged fully at 31 weeks and stayed there. Born 8 weeks later.

My second never engaged and labour started at 37 weeks.

There was no "dropping", bump stayed the same shape.

Dyra · 03/07/2020 15:40

Never got the chance to drop as I was induced at 37 weeks. Was a pain as I had been waiting for it to drop to buy some nursing bras.

MashedSpud · 03/07/2020 15:40

Bump dropped at 4pm, started having pains shortly after. She was born at 3:43am the next day.

Bump never dropped with ds.

Thesearmsofmine · 03/07/2020 15:41

3 pregnancies and mine never dropped.

JoandLily · 03/07/2020 15:43

Mine never did

BadAlice · 03/07/2020 15:43

About 36 weeks. He was born at 41 weeks.

BabyB19 · 03/07/2020 15:45

Oh wow I thought it was something that happened to everyone! I've woken up today and the top of my bump seems much lower, it was like a shelf at the top until yesterday where today it sort of gradually slopes out, just wondering if this was common and I'm not quite 33 weeks yet so was expecting it much later x

Never did!! And I had a friend who regularly said ‘your bump is too high for this baby to be coming anytime soon.’ Which considering the last time she said it, I was 11 days overdue, really pissed me off Grin (I went into labour the very next morning!)

annlee3817 · 03/07/2020 16:54

Dropped and engaged at 32 weeks, arrived at 40+5 🤦

Lilice · 03/07/2020 21:29

I carry high and mine never dropped either

vinoelle · 03/07/2020 21:35

@BabyB19 I’m 34 weeks and this happened to me yesterday- it doesn’t really mean much - apart from now I can actually breathe easier and less indigestion! 🙌 but not a sign of imminent labour or anything so don’t worry

Nelbert19 · 03/07/2020 22:28

Mine dropped this week (36 weeks). I’m a first timer, so got excited it meant something would happen soon!

Breathing is easier, but bladder is now more squashed and I’ve had pressure on my cervix since - not a very pleasant sensation!

Apparently for first time mums, the average time to labour is 2-4 weeks after bump drops (but no guarantees)

After first baby, bump dropping is much less common until labour has actually started

Rubyandsaphire · 03/07/2020 22:33

First pregnancy about 8 weeks before (had dc at 39+5).
Second pregnancy never dropped.

vinoelle · 04/07/2020 15:02

@Nelbert19 may I ask who told you/ where you heard the 2-4 weeks til labour? I’ve never heard that before- I didn’t think there was any correlation?

Nelbert19 · 04/07/2020 15:49

@vinoelle erm my mum and the internet.... potentially not the most solid of sources..!

I now know what you were talking about with the pressure on the cervix @Nelbert19 I've had this the last couple of days, I sat on the loo for a little while yesterday (purely to make sure I was empty as I'd been back and forth allllll day) and I swear I could feel a head shape bulge in the undercarriage! I also felt it when I sat on the side of the bath the other day to shave my legs, so this kind of half squatted position must make it near down! Seems to make it all very real 🤣

Mine didn't, he was starting to engage but I had to be induced at 39 weeks for preeclampsia. If I hadn't been induced I imagine he would have easily stayed put til 42 weeks

Alarae · 08/07/2020 09:00

36 weeks. Didn't mean anything though as I was still induced at 41 weeks.
