When I first found out I was pregnant- nearly 2 weeks ago (4+3) we had tesco tests which were positive but the 2nd pregnant line was faint. Then tues/wed I had some light bleeding and did a test wed (5+5) on the GP advice- that was a clear blue test and the line was bold and clear. As the bleeding has still been happening I did another test this morning (6 weeks) which was tesco again and again the pregnant line was there but faint. I'm worried the line is fading because I'm miscarrying, can anyone reassure me that it could just be the brands? Also doesn't help that since yesterday evening I have had little or no soreness in my boobs and they have been sore since before the first positive test.

I've read about something called the hook effect on here whereby as your levels rise above a certain point the tests become ineffective, something about diluting the urine and they show up bold again. However I have never had cause to try it myself. Might be worth a Google to see if it provides some reassurance x

I would get a scan to make sure. You wonr know otherwise but for me that meant I had had a chemical pregnancy. I'm sorry

Thank you disconnected. Going to try a clear blue one again later and if it's faint as well then I will book a private scan for Monday

I really wouldn't waste money on doing tests constantly. You can read too much into how dark/faint tests are.
You have gotten a positive test - you are pregnant. The scan will tel you more when you go for one.

This is coming from experience of spending a fortune on lots of tests - all which were very very positive but both ended in ectopic pregnancies.

The scan will be reassuring - not the tests.
Also it depends how hydrated you are: how diluted your wee is/what time of day it is etc etc

Good luck

I can see your point BMWL but not sure I can follow the advice.

I had lots of symptoms up until around 6 weeks then they disappeared, I tested a lot and they were getting lighter and lighter.
I ended up having a scan at EPU at 8 weeks, after getting myself worked up, and everything was fine.
It is normal for dips and peaks in symptoms. Please try not to worry. My advice would be stop taking tests and stay off mumsnet.
If you aren’t experiencing cramps or bleeding then the odds are in your favour.
I know how horrible it feels, but try and relax. I’m 22 weeks pregnant now xx
