How you no difference between yolk and twins

Would you like to say a little more about what you mean?

Hopefully someone who can help will be along soon in any case.

Surely whoever did the ultrasound told you if they thought you were having twins? How far along are you?

I agree with previous poster - the expert doing the scan would have been able to tell you if what they were seeing was twins surely??

They would have told you if it was twins ...

Isn't the scan picture labelled?! Top "blob" says baby, bottom "blob" is YS which I assume means yolk sack.

Surely I didn’t go to the doc thank you all! I went to a place at the beach called the woman’s center and no she couldn’t determine or say if it was twins or not bc she wasn’t the doc she had never seen a yolk sac that in large or still there at my months that’s why I’m asking !

She didn’t wanna confirm twins until I see my doctore

Yes she thought it was twins she was a ultrasound and there was a rn I only went to get proof of pregnancy

What is a yolk sac?

I think there would be 4 ‘blobs’ for twins. 2 babies 2 yolk sacs. Or minimum 3. 2 babies sharing same yolk sac. Did they assess heartbeat? How far along are you? I had scan at 7+2 to confirm my ivf pregnancy and the yolk sac was bigger than baby at that stage. He’s now 12 weeks old. If they can get a picture enough to see yolk sac they should be able to see if twin pregnancy or not

@emojisarentwords it is what’s supports the growing foetus until the placenta is formed And takes over at around 12 weeks ish.

You are not silly at all. My scan looked exactly like this and the experts actually told me twins. Turned out it was always just one baby. Baby and yolk sac, but the ultrasound actually MEASURED 2 babies, confirmed twins on my notes and apparently saw 2 heartbeats.

I would take early scans with a pinch of salt and wait for your 12 week scan to confirm and avoid disappointment / anxiety / unneeded stress as I can confirm first hand this is what happened to me x

How far along are you? Thus was my scan at eight weeks and the yolk sac is the round blob at the bottom underneath my DD if that helps for comparison
