Pregnant - should I get whooping cough vaccine?

Just wondering how many mums/expectant mums got the whooping cough vaccine when pregnant? And if not, why not? Xx

I would, I've seen some videos of babies with whooping cough and it scared me!

I did and would again. My DH had whooping cough as an adult and had 3 months of not being able to eat a full meal as it would trigger coughing. There were a couple of occasions where he coughed so much he was close to passing out. I'd hate to see that in a young baby, particularly when it is so easy to avoid!

I had it with my previous 3 and without a doubt will be having it this time, I never forget my mum telling me of the guilt she felt when my sister caught whooping cough, and thought she'd lost her hearing.

I'm 29 weeks pregnant and had my jab last week, I also had it with my other pregnancies.

It's a no brainer, whooping cough can kill babies and it's a vaccine preventable disease. This family's story is heartbreaking light for Riley.

It’s designed to protect your baby. Sadly there was a massive rise in whooping cough cases and deaths in newborns & babies.

I never thought twice about it. Whooping cough in newborn babies is horrendous.

I got mine a couple of weeks ago. Arm was a bit sore, that was it.

Protects mum and baby, seems a no brainer really!

I have family history of vaccine damage so am very cautious with vaccinations but I think I will get this one and decline the flu jab, if that helps.

I've had a whooping cough jab in both of my pregnancies. It takes 2 seconds and hurts slightly for about a day. Why wouldn't you have it. It's a no brainer for me.

Newborn babies in my city have died from whooping cough in the last couple of years so for me it was a no brainer. Didn’t even feel it and arm wasn’t at all sore and I know I’ve protected my baby from a life threatening disease.

I nearly died from whooping cough as a child and have weak lungs as a result. Wtf would you not get the vaccine? I’m so grateful a vaccine is now available and I don’t have to go through what my mum did with me. And my brother, actually-he caught it from me.

No brainer, I had the jab with both my pregnancies. With my first I had the fun of having the whooping cough and flu jabs on the same day, that was all the fun you can imagine. But apart from sore arms, I was fine. If I ever have another baby I will have the vaccine again if necessary.

My partner had whooping cough as an adult and it was absolutely horrendous and went on for months. I can't imagine how a small baby could ever cope so I would be having it as soon as it was available

Absolutely! Give me any and all vaccinations that will protect baby. As soon as I was past the point where I could have it I was in for it.

Hi all, new here and i need some urgent help. I've found out i am pregnant came up over 3 weeks on the test. My estimate is i am about 13 weeks. I am not registered with a gp so i am unsure where to go or what to do? Can anyone give some advice as this is all new to me?
