Pelvic floor in second pregnancy

Hi,

Hoping for any advice. I had a traumatic first birth with induction, failed ventouse and forceps delivery. I had felt like I had recovered well and was as back to normal as I was going to be, and now am due my 2nd child in September with just over a two year age gap. I have been told I can have a c section delivery if I want one, and have an appointment in a few weeks to decide.

I have been trying to do my pelvic floor exercises and am concerned that I can't really feel them now?! I can feel a very slight tightening but not what I could before I was pregnant again. Is this normal? Will keeping up exercises make a difference? And will c section birth help prevent further damage? One of my main fears is being left with further long lasting issues after another vaginal birth. I have my 28 week midwife appointment next week so will try and ask then too, but thanks for any help.
