Hi ladies, I'm new to mumsnet! We've been trying to conceive for two years and I was losing all the hope but the miracle happened. Me and my partner were tested and were about to start IVF but the month before I felt pregnant naturally and I am now due on 15th november with my first baby boy :)
As a new mum to be I am stressing of what I should be getting for the newborn mainly talking about what sort of bed etc. There are so many different beds from cots to side beds etc and I haven't got a clue about any of them. Can someone kindly help me pretty please! It would be lovely to meet you ladies who are due around same time :)

Hi there
A huge congrats to u and as easy as it is for someone else to say. Try not to worry. U always get by in the end.

I had my 1st little boy 15 months ago and went completely over the top in buying most products you could think of. (I just found out today I am pregnant with my second so grateful I already have loads)

In terms of what to buy all these things depends on what you like and your budget. I went for buying slightly more luxurious products in hope they will last a few babies and I won't need to keep rebuying.

For sleeping we started in a snuzpod. This is now with my sister in law using for my newborn nephew and I intend on getting this back for my next little one.

I also bought a sleepyhead, which for us was a huge expense at £140 for a pillow for LO to nap in and he barely used it. He wasn't a very good napper during the day though.

I would recommend the snuzpod and they are reasonably priced. Pram wise, I went fit the bugaboo fox and couldn't recommend it enough if I am honest. Worth every penny.

There are loads of sites online to looks at products but tbh I would ask around if u know anyone for advice.

Good luck and try not to stress xxx

Thank you, I think I am going to go overboard too, there's just so many things around. Congratulations on your second pregnancy! How far along are you?
I've read a lot info online regarding what to buy but everyone is suggesting different things and I just get lost 😅 I think mums know best as they've all gone through it already

Congratulations!
I’m due November 4th, there’s a November babies thread on here too which has lots of posts!

We’ve also bought a Snuzpod (second hand, and buying a new mattress) as we’ve heard good things about it. But to be honest, I think any bedside cot does the trick, we wanted one where there the sides come down for easy access To baby at night.
We do plan on buying baby a normal cot for her room for when we decide to stop using the bedside cot (we don’t plan on doing this before 6 months).
Hubby wants a cot bed (the one that converts to a small bed) which can be useful as it can be used up to 4 years (I think).
I’m also interested in buying a sleepyhead BUT these aren’t advised for unsupervised sleeping by the lullaby trust due to increased risks of SIDS - but I’ve heard so many good things about them. Potentially might buy one for downstairs, supervised sleeping.

Im due the end of November me and my partner had been trying for a year and I had just got settled in a new job so we decided to stop trying and then found out I was pregnant! We were both a little shocked but we both wanted a child so it's all been a shock and a whirlwind. It's a very stressful time don't feel comfortable going out and shopping for baby things and it's not easy to figure out if you like the items online, I've only ordered a cot bed because it will take a month to deliver and it was on sale, I've got so much more to buy and think about but taking it little by little. I have done some lists like the hospital bag list....the things we need in the first month of the baby being here doing the lists and researching has helped me feel less chaotic.
How are you feeling? I've had a rough time even now with morning sickness, feeling pretty exhausted.

Congratulations!

Missworry92 · 02/07/2020 22:37

Thank you ladies, I will join that group, glad to hear theres many of us due in November. Congratulations @CharisA Smile it's such a wonderful feeling to find out you are pregnant after trying for years :)
I've been pretty lucky to be fair and haven't had much sickness just quite a few dizzy spells. Have you found out the gender of your baby? And are you going to?
There's so much information online about so many things about babies and as a first time mum it just sounds like a minefield :D

Hiya op!
Congrats on your pregnancy, how wonderful that you conceived naturally before IVF Smile how have you been feeling? I'm also a first time mum, I'm 18 weeks due on December 4th so not too long after you!
It really is such a minefield with everything to buy, I've been asking every mum I know about cribs etc and we have decided on the Chicco next2me, hoping to use it as a portable one for downstairs in the daytime too. Have you bought much stuff yet? I feel so disorganized although it is a while away Grin

@Missworry92
Yes we have are scan on the 20th July to hiofully find out the sex but the closer it comes the less I am bothered about knowing starting to think maybe we should just let it be a surprise who knows 😂. It is a minefield! But I've found the NHS week by week is pretty helpful and to the point sometimes it helps to read that how you feel is normal. Dizziness is the one thing I really really don't handle well ive nearly fainted twice because of the dizziness and ive never fainted! Crazy what making a baby does to your body, I feel like I don't know my body anymore everything is different but im starting to get use to it now and the baby is kicking a lot this week! It's the first time my partner also felt the baby kick! We also can see my tummy move and that is the strangest thing ive ever seen, but also makes me happy because feels like the baby's saying im here hello :) wishing you all the best and that you continue to not have a not so bad pregnancy hopefully the dizziness will settlle.
Do you know the sex of your baby? Will you find out?

Missworry92 · 03/07/2020 10:39

@Scotinportugal congratulations to you too! I've felt pretty good, thank you, only had two days where I felt sick otherwise few moments of dizziness and that's it. How about you? I've been anaemic in the past so I thought dizziness was more to do with that so just ate loads of foods rich in iron and seem better now. Oh thank you for saying about Chicco next2me - I will check that out too 😊 I haven't bought anything yet and feel very unorganised two, I've literally only have two little books and that's it Haha 😅 do you know if you are having a boy or a girl? I've noticed once I've found out it's making me look for stuff a bit more 😊
@FlashesOfRage oh I can't miss your group! I'll join there too 😁
@CharisA I know what you mean than you say it doesn't matter what gender the baby is and it's quite nice to have a surprise on the day, but I found out that since I've found out I'm having a boy that I automatically look at baby boy stuff and there's so much more compared two gender neutral clothes and also when it comes to a nursery it will be easier to plan. Do you have a preference at all? I wanted a boy a little more than a girl as a first child ☺ aww it's nice that you are feeling the kicks already! I've got few little feeling which I like to think it's the baby but not sure and my partner hasn't felt the kicks yet only likes to listen to his heartbeat on my belly 😊 best of luck to you too with the pregnancy! Maybe you are low on iron too if you're feeling dizzy! I've noticed beetroot juice was much help just tastes disgusting haha 😅

@Missworry92
Me and my partner both wanted a boy but the closer we get to the scan the more im happy no matter what really as long as she/he is healthy 😊. I think knowing the gender will probably help with sorting the babies room...so far we are going to paint it a pale yellow and the cot bed is Grey but would be nice to make the room a bit more personalised. And with clothing it would really help 😂

Missworry92 · 03/07/2020 12:15

@CharisA I've noticed they do a lot of wall stickers online for cute animals and stuff which is very gender neutral so that would be a nice way to personalise it a little 😊
