Rude midwife..possible pre labour?

Hello! I'm 38weeks today and all day I have been experiencing mild period pain type cramps, and shooting pains in my bum.
I have spent a lot of the day lying on my left hand side and the Braxton hicks have really intensified and are becoming painful when they happen (which is roughly once every twenty mins)
I keep getting the urge to poo (sorry!) but then nothing really happens.
Baby is really moving and his movement is almost hurting me now. Hiccups also seem really really low down, lower than I've ever had before.
I called Triage just letting them know and asking for some advice and the midwife was really rude and told me only to call when I'm in labour. I explained I just needed some advice and reassurance and wanted to know if I was possibly experiencing pre labour and she just said have a bath and don't call again until you have real contractions three minutes apart. I felt really tearful after the call as I know it's not full blown labour but I'm really uncomfortable today.
I guess what I'm on here for is just some advice. Do you think it sounds like pre labour? Are things beginning to happen?
Any advice would be really appreciated. First time mum and suffering with quite bad anxiety.
Thankyou xxxxx

I was 40 weeks on the dot, OP. Snooze well, and if you can't, be lying down and thinking lovely, relaxing thoughts. I usually think about icecream...

How are you doing @grace1991?

grace1991 · 02/07/2020 21:11

@Kittywampus nothing further has happened ! Still the same. SadDaffodil

It may be that baby's head is sitting on nerves, I had that awful shooting pain with both mine towards the end. It can be quick a shock sort of pain, sharp and shoots down your legs.

It's a good sign head is engaged.

Sleep. Rest. Eat plenty. Sleep more.

Best advice i can give you right now!

There’s always one insensitive midwife! I’m so sorry- she should not have been rude to you. I hope you manage to get a bit more comfortable. All the best Flowers

I had 2 weeks of what you are describing before the real deal, it was exhausting as it would always ramp up in the night about 2am and stop me sleeping but then completely stop at 6/7am. I'd try and rest as much as possible from now on if I was you. Hopefully yours happens a little quicker than mine did.
