Scan need advice

Hi I had a scan today I am only 5 weeks 2 days from period they only saw the sac I have to go back in 2 weeks to get another scan but from only seeing the sac is this normal with being so early?

Completely normal. I'm surprised they even saw a sac at that stage. It's common not even to see a sac until at least 6 weeks+

Yes it’s normal. I had an early scan and went back 10 days later to see a healthy heartbeat.

At this point it may well be too early to see anything, so I wouldn’t worry too much.

Totally normal at this super early stage. I’m sure an awful lot of people didn’t have a clue they were even pregnant at 5+2!

Hi, just out of curiosity, did you arrange the scan privately? I had an early MC in March and have just got pregnant again but I know that my mind won’t be at ease until I have a scan. I don’t even want to ring to book in with the midwife though as I’m worried I’ll just lose it again. I just want to book in privately. GP doesn’t want to know- they just say to ring the midwife directly.

And @Hoppyhops it was a scan from the hospital I had a miscarriage in May and got pregnant again but the doctors wanted to check that their was no old pregnancy left over so that's why I went in today it's so horrible worrying isn't it I'm the exact same but if I was you I would book in with the midwife an then they are there for any support or questions you have good luck and congratulations! Xx

Completely Normal, I went for a scan at what I thought I was 6 weeks from my period date and only showed a sack. The week later I had another scan and they measured me at 6+1 so I was 6 days behind what I thought I was and we saw a little blob and could just about see a little flicker of a heartbeat. So the first scan I would have only been 5+2 and only saw a sack from an internal scan

@EBM20 ah fab! Was the sac that you saw empty when u was 5 weeks 2 days because mine is empty at the min x

@c12341 there was a very very small yolk, just about see it, I was told sometimes you can't see it, all depends where its positioned. Hope all goes well for you x

@EBM20 aw thank you it's nice knowing people I haven't even met care! I'm doing good I'm so sick though with morning sickness I rang back my hospital a day after I had my scan an asked was there a yolk sac an they said yes so it was just the sac an yolk sac they seen so all good I'm due back on the 14th a day after my birthday for another scan to see if I can see a heartbeat so fingers crossed all goes good xxx
