Freaking out

Hi! Firstly, I should say I have very irregular periods. My last cycle was about 53 days. First day of last period 6April, positive pregnancy test 24 May. Went in for my 12w Scan only to be told I’m only 6w1d (measuring 5.7mm). Couldn’t yet see heartbeat but Sonographer said not to worry toI much yet as 6w v early and they’d def expect to see heartbeat at 7/8w. So they will get me in for another scan in 1 or 2 weeks. I’m freaking out though since yesterday and have been driving myself crazy reading articles etc. I don’t know how to cope the next two weeks and if it is wrong to cling on to hope that my baby is fine. Can someone please share experiences. I’m going crazy as a FTM. Thanks!

It's completely normal to not see a heartbeat at 6 weeks, you might be on the lesser side of 6 weeks too. I saw a heartbeat at 6+6.

Many thanks susiewithbump - yes, she measured me as 6weeks 1day so early 6 weeks. I’m just a wreck right now going crazy just having to wait. Sonographer did say she couldn’t see any bleeding so I guess I take that as a good sign🙏🏽

Hi OP, baby measuring smaller isn't unusual, especially with long, irregular cycles like yours, and it's hit and miss as to whether you see a heartbeat at that gestation.

My concern would be that 6+1 from yesterday would mean you ovulated around 1st June (they add an extra 2 weeks on at the beginning when calculating pregnancy). That means you got a positive test before you'd even conceived.

Have you had any bleeding between your BFP and this scan?

I'm sorry you're going through this.

Thanks sel2223 - nope, no bleeding or spotting at all. I’m very worried and don’t know how to go on for the next week or so

Unfortunately it sounds like it isnt going to be good news, having a positive test at the end of May puts you way over 6 weeks by now, and if baby is only measuring 6 weeks then I would think this was a missed miscarriage :( I'm so sorry
