How true is this so unfair

January 2021 mums to be
angelascott · 03/07/2020 14:08

Very true and very unfair @WhoUsedMyName this is the reason why we booked a private scan as its our first baby after trying for 13 years and my partner is having to miss the NHS scans but people near to where I live have been having parties and what not since lock down... Gets me so mad x

SnookyPook · 03/07/2020 16:04

Oh you poor ladies with hyperemesis 😞 I’ve been really lucky and barely had any morning sickness - some nausea at times but no vomiting. Ironically this has been worrying me as I know sickness is actually a good sign! The pregnancy of my Sisters that was successful after 4 MCs was the only one she had sickness for. It’s one of the main reasons I’m antsy about my 12wk scan. We’re never happy are we?!?

@WhoUsedMyName yes it’s really shitty. I had a text from ante-natal clinic to say go alone but when they offered me the appointment they did say to ring the day before in case of a rule change... so hoping he’ll be able to come. 😞

Dspx · 04/07/2020 09:22

I’m sure you all have but I would check your hospital website as it’s now down to each individual hospital I went on Thursday and my partners came to the hospital had his temp checked then had to wait outside when I was called for the scan I was able to call him to meet me in the room he could stay for the scan but then had to leave while I had bloods and saw midwife we were there for 4 hours so was a lot of waiting around for him him but he was able to be in the scan. Xx

Tink2020 · 04/07/2020 09:54

@dspx why four hours? X

Dspx · 04/07/2020 10:01

Just the way they are doing it now as the midwife visits are being done over the phone so needed to have first bloods and midwife visit. Plus baby was being a pain and was in a difficult spot and refusing to move lol x

Tink2020 · 04/07/2020 11:29

Wow. I had my booking appointment at 8 weeks over the phone then went in for height, weight, blood pressure and blood tests. Got my scan on the 21st then my consultant phone call on the 22nd.

Onekidnoclue · 04/07/2020 18:25

It’s bonkers how different they all are. I did height and weight in the phone chat then bloods was a super fast appointment afterwards. I’ve been told they double up the 20 scan and the shots for whooping cough and flu which makes sense.
I’ve got scans next week and am getting stupidly nervous which is mad as I had one at 10 weeks anyway!

Dspx · 04/07/2020 18:45

@Onekidnoclue I know what you mean I had one at 11 weeks and was panicking until we heard the heartbeat I think it’s natural x

Tink2020 · 04/07/2020 18:53

I have my private scan on Wednesday, so nervous and glad my OH is going to be there.

PopsicleHustler · 04/07/2020 19:10

PopsicleHustler · 04/07/2020 19:10

Congratulations everybody and hope you all have a nice smooth pregnancy, labour and birth. :)

angelascott · 04/07/2020 19:13

@Onekidnoclue I'm exactly the same had a scan last weekend but getting nervous for my scan on Thursday... Not only about the scan but my sickness is horrendous (HG) and I'm worried about throwing up whilst there haha x

Onekidnoclue · 04/07/2020 19:17

@PopsicleHustler wow 5 by 32 you’re far more efficient than me! I’m about to hit 40 and have only managed one so far! What’s your due date?

OP posts:
Onekidnoclue · 04/07/2020 19:19

@angelascott I think the sickness might work for you. I wouldn’t keep you waiting if I was worried about the clean up! 😂

OP posts:
angelascott · 04/07/2020 19:22

@Onekidnoclue been told partners can't attend and you can only arrive 5 mins before appointment and can't be late... Quite strict so that worries me too haha x

nchristie · 04/07/2020 20:30

Expecting first baby with due date of Jan 19. Had my first scan last week and going back for another in a couple of days because nuchal translucency measurement was high (4.5mm) and that combined with blood tests give 1/33 chance of Down Syndrome. Anyone else higher risk for Downs?

Dia12 · 04/07/2020 21:36

Hi all, I've not been around much and missed lots of posts. Hope you're all doing well. Sorry to hear you're having such a rough time with sickness @Lauraha85 and @angelascott - hope things get easier soon.

I've had a pretty miserable week, my tooth broke, had a temporary dressing which has made it worse as it seems there must be an infection there so one of side of my face is now swollen and head and neck ache. Will prob have it extracted this week - just need to survive past the weekend. I'm really worried I'm also somehow distressing the baby with this too.

My scan is tomorrow and I'm super worried about baby as most symptoms seems to have ceased. anxious about the NT measurements tomorrow and what that shows. Been a bit teary today and finding it hard to console myself.

The sickness is really bad but hoping my new meds start to work soon.

@lauraha85 how are you, did you have to stay in hospital last night? X

Lauraha85 · 04/07/2020 22:03

@Dia12 sorry to hear you have had a miserable week 😢 wishing you the best of luck at your scan tomorrow keep us posted 😊 xx

@angelascott hey , no didnt have to stay in , was sent home with antisickness tablets cyclizine which my goodness make me drowsy 😴 I have been struggling to keep my head up - they have eased the sickness slightly but no completely. How are you coping ?? Xx

PopsicleHustler · 05/07/2020 07:24

@Onekidnoclue hiya, well by the time this little one is born (due date 18th jan 2021) I shall be 33! God willing! I am very blessed and feel so complete. I thank god for everything. Whether you have 1 or 4 it's a blessing.

But this pregnancy has not been a walk in the park!!!!
Literally, have had it up to here with morning sickness. I'm not throwing up but all day long frommorning til night feel like I am on the verge of being sick. Continuous nausea and weak and shakey and feeling unwell. I have never had this with any of my other 4 children.
Usually I can tell what I am having by the morning sickness, as with the two boys, i was feeling a bit sick but generally ok .
With my two girls , I had bad morning sickness, with vomiting but this pregnancy is nothing I have ever experienced. Hoping it wears off by next week when I hit 12 weeks . I am so, so fed up of it. And eating as well. If I eat something , I am so full and bloated like I have gone to a buffet restaurant and done ten plates lol, rather than a small sandwich. I then cant do anything for 8 hours until the food finally digests where my stomach feels so sore and full.
Anyone else experiencing that?

PopsicleHustler · 05/07/2020 07:30

@dia12
Oh my goodness, I was in the same boat, just under a month ago. Pregnancy makes my teeth so weak. And I have actually lost 2 back teeth already.
A few weeks ago, I was sat eating pringles and my tooth chipped, which left a sharp edge and it would scrape along my tongue. It was pretty horrendous. I was in agony swallowing and drinking. I couldn't eat because it was so bad. I was so weak as well from where I wasn't eating and was throwing up all over the bathroom floor. I was on phone to 111 and my dentist pretty non stop but because of the coronavirus situation, they couldn't see me and were just doing emergency advice over the phone. They advised me to get a temporary filling which was pathetic and wouldn't stay put. No matter how many times my Dh and I tried. Then finally a dentist hub called me and had to travel to basingstoke, hampshire to see out of hours emergency dentist for a filing down. Was so much better after that. But it was bloody dreadful. It was just the rough edge of the tooth constantly dragging and rubbing against my tongue.
Hope you are able to get something sorted soon. Toothache and tooth chips can be the worst!

Onekidnoclue · 05/07/2020 07:54

@Dia12 that’s so horribly stressful. Anything dental terrifies me. I’ve got everything crossed for your scan. What time is it?

@PopsicleHustler I have been horrendously bloated too but I have bad IBS and was bloating before I was pregnant. Unfortunately for me the only thing that helps is gluten, dairy and sugar free diet but I wouldn't suggest that to anyone else without speaking to a trained nutritionist. Peppermint tea helps a lot with bloating after meals so I would suggest that.
