@onekidnoclue @snookypook
I ended up ringing the midwife and they called me straight in to the hospital for a check up and thankfully it was what you said a lot of watery discharge 🙈
Spent today putting some of the nursery furniture together, not sure when the right time to do things is but would like to be all ready by december to try and enjoy the festive period and relax a bit before little man arrives. Time seems to be speeding up, where did September go?

Lilo08 · 25/09/2020 09:14

Hi everyone. It’s been a long time. Like everyone else I somehow seemed to have lost this thread too.
I am now 22+2 and feel huge already! Feeling well in general just tired and weak at times and experiencing the extra discharge. Have the lower part of bump feeling heavy which I’m assuming is normal.
I went for my scan couple of weeks ago. Was convinced I was having a girl but turns out it’s a boy!
Had whooping cough jab too with no side effects just a sore arm for a few days.
Feeling a little lonely in this pregnancy as my husband is busy focused on getting building work out the way and I’m sure I’m boring my colleagues with constant baby talk.
Feeling baby at quiet times now which is nice and reassuring.
How is everyone else doing?

Lilo08 · 25/09/2020 09:17

@luckymumtobe sounds like you need to rest more. Try taking it easy. Just for peace of mind speak to your midwife too

SnookyPook · 25/09/2020 10:47

@PollyOaks glad it was ok! Always best to have a check if in doubt! Our nursery is still the junk room at the moment!! 😬 Although we have now made a start on clearing it and we have people coming to recarpet it end of next week so it will have to be emptied for that! Hubby has promised when the new carpet is in we can go shopping for nursery furniture! Exciting! 😁

@Lilo08 nice to hear from you - and welcome to the Boy Club! Sorry you’re a bit lonely. I am a little too. Working from home due to Covid and Hubby out at work a lot (doctor) so not much going on! Glad your pregnancy is progressing well though. Feeling occasional kicks now which is lovely and I just made my first baby clothes purchase ☺️ Time does seem to be speeding by now! Weird (and cool!) to think that there are prem babies smaller than him who have survived! Just hoping all keeps progressing well. So many unknowns aren’t there?!

Opelbow · 25/09/2020 12:27

Our house has been turned upside down as my OH paints our new room before a new carpet arrives. Our old room is going to his office / guess room. As it looks like he will be working from home most of the first 6 months of baby.

I got some baby clothes in the next sale Smile

SnookyPook · 25/09/2020 13:30

@Opelbow glad we’re not the only ones still doing up the house!! Hope you get yours all sorted to your liking soon ☺️

Onekidnoclue · 25/09/2020 14:23

Lovely news from everyone! I think this is the lull before the storm!
As this is our second I need a sort out of all the clothes a stuff before he arrives - also need to tell DS1 🤣🤣🤣 don’t think there will be any shopping other than nappies and bottles but suspect something will have disappeared in the years

Does anyone know when you have to see your midwife? I'm pretty sure there are set weeks but I have no idea what they are.

@Onekidnoclue this is our second and I'm not expecting to have to buy much but I'd be disappointed if I'm not buying anything!

Currently deciding if it's worth paying the £20 Next Unlimited delivery fee now, especially with lockdowns popping up everywhere. My area is fine but all the areas I would normally/rarely go shopping are in lockdown.

SharonR88 · 26/09/2020 08:01

Hiya has everyone had the flu jab?

I'm due to have it today and I was speaking with my sister who has tried to advise me against taking it.

Opelbow · 26/09/2020 08:05

@footprintsintheslow the dates should be in the paperwork the midwifes gave you.

I'm seeing mine at 24 weeks and 28 weeks. Can't remember after that.

Lilo08 · 26/09/2020 08:24

This is our second too but will need to buy everything as we have nothing from the first 12years ago. I am hoping to just buy the necessities

Yes midwife appointment in will be in your file

Lilo08 · 26/09/2020 08:27

@SharonR88 I have the flu jab booked for the 17th Oct

footprintsintheslow · 26/09/2020 08:47

@Opelbow @Lilo08 I've been through my notes twice and I can't see anything that says it. But I'll check again and see if I'm missing something, then I'll ring.

I must also get my flu jab. @SharonR88 what were your sisters reasons for trying to suggest you don't get it? Does she have a medical background and know something we don't? I was planning on getting the whooping cough and flu jab ASAP and also my toddler needs the up the nose flu vaccine. I'm hoping they can do that all together.

Carabu1 · 26/09/2020 08:48

Hello everyone! Glad we’re not the only one in the midst of redecorating...I’ve got stuff I ordered all starting to arrive now and it’s so exciting to see it all in the baby’s room! Eeek. I’m 26+5 now, and actually feeling pretty good. Because of anterior placenta I very rarely feel baby move, but midwife and hospital seem convinced it’s fine...my midwife has been really nice giving me extra checks just to reassure me about it. Kind of can’t wait now for December and Christmas and maternity leave to start...the next 2 months feel like the waiting game...!

Onekidnoclue · 26/09/2020 09:17

@SharonR88 why did your sister say no to the flu jab? I’m dead keen and have just had DS done with the nasal one. The last thing I want is either of us having flu. Would be shit enough under normal circs but this year would be esp dire.

SharonR88 · 26/09/2020 09:44

She had a very bad reaction to it to the point where she was in hospital but they don't know the cause of it. I'm worried whether to take it or not especially with the pandemic I would rather be safe.

footprintsintheslow · 26/09/2020 12:55

@SharonR88 maybe book an appointment for the jab, and discuss your sisters history with it and see what they advise.

Onekidnoclue · 26/09/2020 17:41

Yikes. How stressful @SharonR88. Was it just this years one she had a reaction too? I think it’s a good idea to make an appointment to discuss. Depending on how fast your sister reacted you might be able to stay in the clinic for ten minutes or so so they’d know if you’d reacted poorly?

OP posts:
SharonR88 · 26/09/2020 18:49

@Onekidnoclue it happened 4 years ago I decided not to have it today and instead have a discussion with my midwife or consultant.

I'm already taking aspirin for low pap -a, iron tablets and now will start on some injection as I'm high risk of getting a blood clot so could do without the sister stress.

Raspberry84 · 26/09/2020 19:48

Hey folks,
Anyone have any decent recommendations for heartburn (getting tired of chugging Gaviscon) but getting that disgusting sick feeling at the back of my throat a lot lately.

Any ideas or recommendations of other things to try are much appreciated!

SnookyPook · 27/09/2020 12:13

@Raspberry84 no recommendations for heartburn I’m afraid!

@Carabu1 yes I’m finding it harder and harder to feel focused on work at the moment. Got quite a lot of AL to use up before January so going down to 4 and then 3 day weeks in November. Looking forward to it! 🤪

Anyone else still only getting phone calls for midwife appointments? My 24wk is phone. Don’t see anyone until 28wks?! Seems really late. They should surely be beginning to check fundal height etc?

I did a free 2hr antenatal class with The Baby Academy yesterday. Was really good! Contemplating doing the full day for £99 now but also intrigued about hypnobirthing courses. Anyone got anything booked?

mumsofboys · 27/09/2020 12:28

Hey, didn't know there was another January people thread. I thought the one I was in was quiet.

Is it ok to join?

Is this linked to the one with the fb group already?

SnookyPook · 27/09/2020 15:15

@mumsofboys of course you’re welcome! We don’t have a FB group though that I’m aware of!

What date are you due? ☺️

Onekidnoclue · 27/09/2020 16:48

I’m not due to meet a midwife until 28 weeks. Think there’s a second one at 38 weeks too. Doesn’t seem like much royal college of gyn recommend 7 meetings for low risk pregnancies 😲

OP posts:
Opelbow · 27/09/2020 17:45

@SnookyPook

I can recommend the Positive Birth company as a start on hypnobirthing. On £40 for the online videos.

I'll be seeing the midwife at 24 weeks as I didn't get any checks at the 20 week scan.
