@SkylinesTurnstiles aw congrats! Glad everyone’s 20wk scans seem to be going well! 😊

Onekidnoclue · 02/09/2020 18:28

@SkylinesTurnstiles glad scan went well. Your DH will be thrilled when it sinks in. Plus I think girl names are easier! I have no clue about names for a second DS.

Hey guys hope it’s ok to jump on! I’m 21 weeks now and everything was looking perfect at my 20 week scan which was such a relief after a MMC in Feb. We didn’t find out the gender as we would like a surprise- I started feeling movements at 19 weeks and then last Thursday (6 days ago) I literally felt the movements go from somewhere around my belly button to under my knickerline and It has become a lot less noticeable (less frequent and not as strong). Has anyone had this before? Is it just baby moving position Maybe? If so I’d really appreciate them moving back up haha I still feel them a few times a day but mostly in the evening and not very strong like I was before. Also since the move my tummy around my belly button feels softer and looks smaller to me! As I’m only 21 weeks I know the MW won’t really offer any advice or help With concerns until 24 Weeks and am not due another appointment until 30th September. Pleased everyone has been getting on well! Xx

footprintsintheslow · 02/09/2020 21:40

@Mrs173 welcome and congratulations. I'm 21 weeks as well and my movements at all over the place with no pattern. You can ring triage dr above but I'm not sure what they'd do at this stage as you said.

SnookyPook · 03/09/2020 11:57

Just freaked out as had a slip on the stairs and worried I might have jolted baby. Didn’t land on bump though. My feet went from under me and I landed hard on my bum. Just in a bit of shock I think. Hubby said to ring midwife and she didn’t seem overly concerned- have to watch out for any increased abdo pain, change in breathing or blood loss. Just can’t stop crying now! Anyone else had any falls while pregnant? 😕

PollyOaks · 03/09/2020 14:19

@Mrs173 I have an anterier placenta so I don't even know if I've felt movement yet as it acts as a cushion I'm 21 weeks too and the only feelings I have got the last couple of days have been low down almost like a rolling feeling which I'm guessing has to be baby as I've felt it two nights running now.. Was also concerned about being low but I'm trying not to worry too much as had a healthy scan last week

@SnookyPook I wouldn't be too worried if you didn't have any knock to bump, I had my dog jump straight onto my belly one time and the midwife reassured me that baby is well cushioned inside try not to be upset I know it's hard I was exactly the same as had pains for two days after but they said as long as no bleeding and pain doesn't increase should be OK xx

SnookyPook · 03/09/2020 15:11

@PollyOaks thank you! I’ve calmed down a lot now! Think it was the initial shock just really freaked me out. Hopefully all fine. Got my scan on Monday anyway so fingers crossed all good!

ASmith88 · 03/09/2020 16:38

@Mrs173 Same here - movements started a lot higher up but have move right down into pelvis now, getting stronger and more common so don't think there's anything to worry about.

Mrs173 · 03/09/2020 16:44

Thanks guys @SnookyPook hope you are Ok now. It’s scary when you just want to protect our LO like @PollyOaks I had a fully grown 40kg dog run into my stomach a few weeks ago at a park (not even my dog!) and I was worried but MW said soooo much cushioning there is no reason to worry with no bleeding. Just going to enjoy feeling normal for now - it’s hard not to worry about something isn’t it! Hmm

footprintsintheslow · 03/09/2020 17:57

@SnookyPook I fell down the stairs top to bottom during my the third trimester in my first pregnancy and all was well so I hope that's reassuring.

SnookyPook · 03/09/2020 19:34

@Mrs173 thank you! Yes there’s always something to worry about if you try hard enough! 🤪

@footprintsintheslow very reassuring thank you! Glad all was well! It’s a shock isn’t it?!

MissHoney85 · 03/09/2020 21:56

@SkylinesTurnstiles my DH was initially a bit worried about parenting a girl too. But I think it will actually be really good for him, although initially out of his comfort zone I've been mulling it over and I now have a theory. I think for lots of people (though obv not everyone) it's easier to be affectionate towards your 'opposite sex' child, and maybe you're softer towards them. I've noticed this in lots of families - I guess hence the cliche of mummy's boy / daddy's girl. I suppose maybe you're less likely to impose your own preferences on them and maybe gete less frustrated with them. Obviously a huge generalisation but maybe there's some truth in it!

SnookyPook · 04/09/2020 09:40

20wks today! Halfway! And just 3 days now until scan!! Eek! 😁

Tink2020 · 04/09/2020 11:14

Mine is Thursday morning @SnookyPook, I will be exactly 20 weeks on the day 😍

SnookyPook · 04/09/2020 11:28

@Tink2020 exciting!! It seems to have come round really fast and really slow all at the same time 🤪

Tink2020 · 04/09/2020 11:30

My partner said the exact thing 🤣

footprintsintheslow · 04/09/2020 19:18

On the sex thing we want to have a surprise but at the last scan at 20 weeks I thought we saw a willy and the sonographer said he. We came away deflated and I felt like the most shallow person ever. I cried and my husband panicked as he said he only knows how to parent girls.
24 hours later we'd settled into the idea of a boy and all the great things that come with that. It was going to be a top class feminist that was for sure.

We then realised from the scan photo it was the umbilical cord we were looking at so we are back to it being narrowed down to a girl or a boy. But we've had a trial run of thinking boy and are now fully happy with either sex.

PollyOaks · 06/09/2020 15:53

Anyone else not felt movement yet? I'm 21+3 still not feeling anything that I can say is defo baby.. I know it's harder with an anterier placenta but I am longing to feel something so bad and for a bit of reassurance

SnookyPook · 06/09/2020 17:14

@PollyOaks I have felt things that I think are the baby but not yet absolutely sure. I am assuming it’s baby if I have any kind of bubbly feeling that isn’t followed by wind of any kind 😂

MissHoney85 · 06/09/2020 19:38

@PollyOaks I'm at about the same dates and have an anterior placenta. For a few weeks I've been having kind of twitching episodes in my stomach muscles sporadically. However, the movements were more noticeable from the outside if you see what I mean, they didn't really feel like something moving inside me. They were also higher up than I think the baby is based on the scan where it seemed to be nestled right into my pelvis. So I wonder if those twitches were more 'knock on' movements of other organs. In the last couple of days I've started to have a different sensation lower down where I think the baby is - hard to describe but kind of a pressure, with maybe a very slight swimming / rolling feeling every now and then. Really subtle though.

@footprintsintheslow glad you've come to terms with either option. Always good to be prepared for the less expected outcome I think. I'm sure you'd bring up an awesome boy if that's what happens!

Tink2020 · 07/09/2020 10:31

My lightheadedness and slight nausea because of it is coming back 😢🥴
I’m eating and drinking more so can’t blame it on that now. Still off work and feeling so lazy as I can’t do things like I normally do ... suppose I’m just feeling sorry for myself x

SnookyPook · 07/09/2020 14:53

Hey ladies! Just had my 20wk scan! All looking good and healthy! Phew! Babba had hiccups at the start and was then wriggling all over the place 😂 Poor sonographer was a student and had to get me to lie on my side and jiggle and all sorts.

It’s a boy!!! So my dreams early on were right! Didn’t have a preference either way but Hubby is secretly extra pleased as we already have my stepdaughter 😁

Tink2020 · 07/09/2020 17:52

Glad to hear that, mine is on Thursday, getting jitters already 🤣

SnookyPook · 07/09/2020 21:12

@Tink2020 weirdly I got less nervous once we got to the actual day! Was just excited to see everything! Hope yours goes well too and you can relax and enjoy it! Weird to think I won’t see him again now until he’s been born!

Tink2020 · 07/09/2020 21:41

I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that everything is ok, don’t want to go through bad news alone x got my consultant appointment this week too x
