Oh that’s shitty @SkylinesTurnstiles
I’m afraid I’m actually against letting dads come to all the scans but it would be good if they got a ticket or similar so they could come to one and pick the most important to them.
When I had DS the waiting rooms were always packed. I never got a seat as people would bring their mums, husbands, mates and children for a day out! It was horrendous and so hot. I’m actually happier without having people if I means I can have a seat and not be jostled. Totally accept I’m a miserable cow and I’m the very lucky position of having DH at a private scan and not getting bad news solo.
I’ve decided if I do get bad news at the anomaly scan I’m going to record the audio. It’ll be too much to take in at the time and I don’t trust the emphasis in my note taking.

I'm currently 16+4 and so so nervous at the moment. I hate this wait between the 12 and 20 week scan. My sickness started to disappear at 16 weeks which I'm obviously happy about but also makes me nervous something is wrong even though I know it's normal not to feel sick now.

I'm hoping I can see if my midwife will see me in person as I know I would just relax if I could hear the heartbeat even for 10 seconds.

Dspx · 17/08/2020 15:45

@SunSparkle I know what you mean I have been like that for weeks now my scan is Wednesday and the mood I’m in today is awful for no really reason think it’s just bubbling anxiety. Scans are amazing and reassuring but I also find them so daunting really can’t get excited about it. I’m excited when I see the baby but the lead up is torture x

footprintsintheslow · 17/08/2020 16:01

@SkylinesTurnstiles when it was all
Peak covid nightmare I totally got why partners were not allowed into the scans and I agreed with that but now?!?!?!??

You can work, go to bingo, go on holiday anything so I do think this is disgusting to keep a partner away at this point.

Mine's Thursday and we've had a few complications along the way so I'm so anxious. I wish he could come along to the 20 week one. My midwife said she couldn't see partners being able to attend this side of Christmas.

SnookyPook · 18/08/2020 09:34

Those of you with scans over the next couple of days I hope they go really well for you. Keep us posted. Hugs! X

Chloe223 · 18/08/2020 14:15

I've got my 20 week hospital scan on Thursday, not too nervous because I've already had a private scan at 18 weeks so she could write the gender in an envelope.. we had a fireworks gender reveal on the beach and it was amazing... I was convinced it was a girl but turns out it's a boy!!! The woman in the private scan said everything is looking healthy so I'm not too worried about the scan on Thursday. I also found out I have an anterior placenta so even though this baby is extremely active I can't feel him kick in certain positions and it's nice to finally know why and not worry when I can't feel him. 😊 overall having a good pregnancy just not looking forward to going back to work on the weekend😂

Tink2020 · 18/08/2020 18:45

My partner is so loving... this week he said ‘you don’t look fat anymore, I can tell you are preggers now’ 🤣

SnookyPook · 18/08/2020 20:49

@Tink2020 😆 love it!

WhoUsedMyName · 18/08/2020 22:07

Im still alive gone abit quiet on here recently, I've got my 20 week scan on Friday does anyone no if dh can come we live in herts I'm not holding out much hope.

Dspx · 19/08/2020 07:55

I think it’s down to the individual hospital we have ours today and they can come have to wait outside until you are called in then come directly to the room

Onekidnoclue · 19/08/2020 09:25

Ours is only letting dads to the dating scan. I’d call then the day before to check.
When I had my emergency scans at the EPU the rule was only carers with mothers. Half the pregnant ladies there had brought their other halves and just said they were carers! I was in such a piss! It’s really shitty and I would have loved DH there and there were still people milling around and popping out for fags (which turned my stomach when I was feeling sick early on). I think this is why they’re trying to be so strict, if they’re not really strict loads of people take the piss.

Sorry for the rant! I’m having a disaster with my pelvic floor and am in a stress and very grumpy! 🤬🤬🤬

@Onekidnoclue oh no what do you mean hun? You can't do them ?

Onekidnoclue · 19/08/2020 10:09

Thanks! I’m really struggling to hold my wee in! I was fine before DS and dreadful after. Did get back to normal but I’m now leaking if I do a brisk walk and dreading what a second labour will do!

Tink2020 · 19/08/2020 11:26

@Onekidnoclue our hospital is really strict. Even the emergency scans are on their own. Waiting rooms are quiet with just women waiting on their own with spare chairs blocked to keep apart.
If OH can’t come I think I will book a private scan later on for him to see how him or her has developed as he was at the private one at 11 weeks. He was fascinated how much baby developed in just over two weeks

WhoUsedMyName · 19/08/2020 14:55

@Onekidnoclue I do get that I'm forever doing my pelvic floors 4 dc down and I've had no problems up until this pregnancy I'm wearing a pad all the time I don't tend to leak at night though (maybe because I'm not moving) I go to the toilet at least 5 times in the night. But don't seem to toilet much through the day

Onekidnoclue · 19/08/2020 14:59

@WhoUsedMyName I’m impressed you’ve hit round four before there was an issue. I’m doing my exercises religiously put think I might need to pad up! Had hoped I’d be retired before I started setting myself but oh well 😳
Does make me less enthused about a natural delivery though as I’m not sure how much I can take!

So excited for the 20 week scan tomorrow, question though... did anyone else's 12 week scan hurt?? The woman pushed down so hard that is was actually painful which I really didn't expect 😂 She was also very annoyed that my bladder wasn't full but it was the hottest day of the year so I think my body soaked all the water up... she said I need to drink more but I said I already drink 3 litres a day surely that's enough.. most people I know don't even drink 1 litre and just survive off of tea and coffee 😂😂

Opelbow · 20/08/2020 06:52

@Chloe223 yes it did hurt. Baby was at the bottom of my womb so she pushed and pushed. With all the bloods and waiting and checks I was completely exhausted by the experience. Agreed with my oh that if I have the same uncomfortable experience at the 20 week scan we will get a private one so I can actually enjoy seeing the baby.

footprintsintheslow · 20/08/2020 07:20

@Chloe223 good luck for your scan today. Mine is today too.

Dspx · 20/08/2020 07:41

Had mine yesterday was painful in places as she was trying hard to get clear pictures baby was being stubborn so have to go back in 2 weeks as she couldn’t get a clear measurement for some of his brain everything else was fine though xx

Tink2020 · 20/08/2020 09:31

Just got back from having a blood test done and the lady taking it says I should be going for them every 6 weeks minimum for my thyroid. Wish my doctor / consultant made that clear 🤨 last one was beginning of June.
Oh a more positive note is I’ve put on just over a kilo and my appetite is getting better x

Tink2020 · 20/08/2020 09:31

Sorry to hear your scans were painful ladies, but glad things are ok with you and baba’s x

WhoUsedMyName · 20/08/2020 12:24

I'm having a really sad day for absolutely no reason! I keep having mini break downs and just crying but i have no reason anyone else 🥺🤣
