I'm 18 weeks and not feeling any movement yet which is makibg me anxious, although I know being my first it's quite normal just gets me more worried when doctors and midwives keep asking if I've felt anything yet.. I have low iron and have been taking my tablets for a week now but I don't know if they are making me feel unwell or if its just pregnancy. I feel light headed almost all the time and have a terribly crampy belly so struggle to find the right position to sit or lie in.. My mother and sister said I don't stop moaning and I have a long way to go yet 😂 so I thought I would rant on here to people who may feel the same as me. Also seem to be losing weight in pregnancy yet my belly and boobs are very big already I don't know how I could be weighing lighter I stopped being sick at 11 weeks

SnookyPook · 13/08/2020 15:39

@PollyOaks hiya! I’ve been a bit light-headed too and had a few aches and pains. 17wks tomorrow. Don’t think I’ve felt movement yet. I’ve wondered a couple of times but pretty sure it’s always gas! I feel like when it’s the baby I’ll know!

I’ve been fairly chilled out since the 12wk scan but am just beginning to have a few antsy moments again. Feels like such a long wait in-between that and the 20wk scan, and like others have said, not much to indicate what is going on in there and how things are progressing!

MissHoney85 · 13/08/2020 15:45

I'm 18 weeks today. Also feeling a bit light headed sometimes and don't think I've felt movements yet - I've had a few slight bubble / jab sensations but really faint, usually only when I'm trying to feel something. I think it's probably just a combination of gas and my imagination! I had my 16 week appointment a couple of days ago (was on holiday when I was actually 16 weeks) and got to hear the heartbeat, which was reassuring. Definitely agree with others though for whom the post-12 week scan relaxation is being replaced by pre-20 week scan anxiety! 2 weeks tomorrow...

blueskiesandapples · 13/08/2020 16:34

I had my 16 week today and I heard the heartbeat for the first time which has helped calm my anxiety a little bit. She had to chase it round my tummy as it kept moving! 4 weeks to go until my 20 week. Fees like ages.

SnookyPook · 13/08/2020 17:04

Aw I had my 16wk yesterday but it was just a 7minute phone call mostly to book the next appointment! Would have loved a chance to hear Babba’s heartbeat! Glad it’s been reassuring for those of you that were able to have it checked ☺️

Dspx · 13/08/2020 17:35

Hi ladies any suggestions for sleeping on your side I know it’s not recommend to sleep on your back from 20 weeks and ideally to sleep on your left but I can’t get comfortable unless I’m on my back I did buy a pregnancy pillow to keep me from rolling over and it does help but it’s far to hot to use in this weather x

PollyOaks · 13/08/2020 21:33

@SnookyPook yeah I've been putting my cramps down to gas and constipation 🙈 but still gives me concern at the time when they last a while it's like I relieve them and as soon as I eat something they're back again like there's no room inside me for food 😂

@MissHoney85 aw my 20 week scan is two weeks tomorrow too - counting down the days!! I feel like we may be due the same day then is it 14th January? I had my 16 week scan a couple of weeks ago and luckily got to hear the heartbeat but apart from that I would have no idea there's a baby in there, zero movement just look like I've ate a lot of pies 😂

@Dspx I agree way too hot for pregnancy pillow, have you tried sleeping with an extra pillow propped up a bit? I know we aren't allowed to sleep flat on our backs but I think propped up is OK may have to Google into it or ask midwife to be 100%

footprintsintheslow · 13/08/2020 22:52

@Dspx here's a link about sleeping positions during pregnancy from Tommy's. Looks like we are out of the woods until 28 weeks.

Dspx · 14/08/2020 07:42

@footprintsintheslow
Thank you for that feel better now as soon as it cools down I’ll get the pillow back out try and get used to the side position x

Tink2020 · 14/08/2020 10:20

Had my 16 week app over the phone this morning and will be seeing my midwife face to face in 8 weeks. She is getting a consultant to re-evaluate my thyroid levels which is causing increased dizziness. I’ve put on a tiny bit of weight which is good news but she still wants me to eat more.
Just under four weeks till the 20 week scan... it’s like waiting for the first one all over again 😂

MountainFi · 14/08/2020 11:52

Another new joiner if that’s ok? Congratulations to everyone!

I’m 17 weeks with my first, due 23rd Jan. Was surprised to have my 16 week appointment in person on Wednesday, and even more surprised to hear the heartbeat! That was reassuring at least, four weeks since the scan seems like a lifetime.

3.5 weeks to go to the 20 week scan and I definitely agree, just like waiting for the first one again, all the nerves are returning! Hoping for at least some small movement soon for the reassurance!

footprintsintheslow · 14/08/2020 13:41

@MountainFi welcome along. Lovely that you heard the heartbeat.

SnookyPook · 14/08/2020 16:26

@MountainFi hello and welcome! I’m due the 22nd so very similar stage in the process! My 20wk scan is on the 7th Sept - can’t wait! Slightly jealous of those who’ve heard a heartbeat!! Must be a wonderful sound! 😁

blueskiesandapples · 14/08/2020 16:45

@MountainFi welcome! looks like we are only a couple of days apart I'm due on 25th and had my 16 week yesterday where I also heard the heartbeat. Was reassuring but want to have the 20 week so I can see it's ok. I know what you mean about the wait until 20 weeks - sooo long.

@SnookyPook my 20 week is on 11th sep so just after yours! Xx

MountainFi · 14/08/2020 17:36

@SnookyPook I'm also in for my 20wk scan on the 7th! Really hoping partners are allowed in by then, but who knows. If something is wrong, It would be hard to be alone.

Just trying to keep my brain on the excitement side of terror for the next three weeks Grin

Tink2020 · 14/08/2020 17:49

Mine is the 10th ❤️

SnookyPook · 14/08/2020 18:10

@MountainFi totally with you on ‘trying to keep on the excitement side of terror’!! Never experienced so many feelings of excitement intermingled with anxiety as I have during this pregnancy!

Aw looks like a few of us will be getting anatomy scans that week then! Will you all be finding out gender? Think some of us had this chat a while ago. We plan to find out if baby is compliant! Honestly don’t mind either way though as long as Babba is healthy! I just feel it will help the daydreaming along to know if it’s a boy or girl! 😁

Tink2020 · 14/08/2020 18:33

Yes we want to find out and will book a private scan if baby is shy lol x s/he wouldn’t keep still during my 12 week scan x I am getting flutters, describes them to midwife today and she agrees that’s what it is x

Rexodus · 14/08/2020 19:28

I hope all of your scans go well lovelies! My scan is coming on the 24th and oh boy am I nervous! For my 16 week appointment we still are doing phone calls, same again for the 24th appointment too so I haven't seen nor heard the little one since my 12th week scan!

We plan to find out the sex of ours on the 24th and also to see if they have a cleft lip (both myself, my mum, and granddad both had cleft lips and pallates so its a 50/50 chance that they do) - for now I'm just trying to stay positive, even though I've had so little symptoms recently!

blueskiesandapples · 14/08/2020 20:48

I don't think we are going to find out. Think i would like it to be a surprise!

Opelbow · 14/08/2020 21:14

We are going for a surprise. But I will look at the scan and try and guess lol.

footprintsintheslow · 14/08/2020 22:32

We want a surprise so won't be finding out the sex.

Our 20 week scan is on Thursday and our health board is letting in partners for certain scans and luckily this is one of them!

SkylinesTurnstiles · 17/08/2020 08:24

Feeling pissed this morn..
I have my anomaly scan 2 weeks Wednesday, so 2nd September. When I had my midwife appointment she said it was likely that DH would be allowed in to the 20 week scan.
I’ve checked the trust website and it’s partners allowed but just for the first scan and not the anomaly scan. :(
I get the reasoning obviously, but I just feel gutted for DH who hasn’t seen baby and seemed so excited to be allowed into the next one.
Attached screen shot from website in case anyone is at the same NHS trust x

@SkylinesTurnstiles ah that really sucks 😔 so sorry! There are still a couple of weeks to go so fingers crossed that it changes before your scan date. It’s a shame they can’t make an exception for women whose partners had to miss the 12wk scan - really not fair. It also seems harder and harder to justify when everything else is easing up to much. How is a Dad being called in to walk down a corridor in a mask and then leave straight after the scan that much of a problem? I do hope this changes for you. Luckily my Trust have now opened up to Dads being at both scans and I’m just hoping the situation doesn’t change again. Everything is so uncertain at the moment. Sending you hugs. X

Tink2020 · 17/08/2020 10:03

@SkylinesTurnstiles that sucks x mine was saying we could for some scans but we are on the verge of a local lockdown here so that could change 😢
