@SnookyPook that's my birthday! Congrats :)

lydiangel83 · 08/07/2020 11:28

And yes men are weird!

SnookyPook · 08/07/2020 11:31

@lydiangel83 aw thank you! Smile

Dspx · 08/07/2020 18:26

Hi all hope everyone’s ok any recommendations on maternity bras got some from primark but they are not very supportive so want to invest in a good one x

123Phi · 08/07/2020 18:29

Had my scan this afternoon! Hospital was great and gave me all the photos as a way of saying sorry husband couldn't be there. Super relieved to see baby!!
Now buying myself some clothes that fit!! and literally came on here to ask the same question as @Dspx - I've looked online and people recommend M&S, however they seem to have very limited stock at the moment

Tink2020 · 08/07/2020 18:57

All was well with my private scan - just the one lol x measuring exactly as expected 11 weeks, due 28th Han. Baby was on its back with arms and legs up waving around. They said the placenta is forming up the top near my stomach.

Sazzy312 · 08/07/2020 19:16

Aww great news @123Phi so glad scan went well Smile

Sazzy312 · 08/07/2020 19:17

@Tink2020 lovely news about your scan Smile

Onekidnoclue · 08/07/2020 19:21

@123Phi and @Tink2020 great news! I had a private scan this afternoon too. I booked for a Harmony test and they give you a scan with it. It was nice to see the baby but I wasn’t convinced they really knew what they were talking about. Was all over the show, not very professional. Will feel much better when I get the blood results and the NHS scan tomorrow.

@Dspx and @123Phi bras are bloody impossible as you don’t know what size you’ll get too! Hot Milk do nice nursing ones but they are pricey. I bought a shit load first time round, spent a fortune but then they only fitted properly for a month 🤨. No idea what the best option is!

@Sazzy312 thank you. Honestly couldn't be happier!
@Onekidnoclue that's shocking! At least you're not relying on it, I was so impressed with the hospital today so hopefully tomorrow will be much better for you. At least you got to see the baby

SnookyPook · 08/07/2020 22:29

@123Phi @Tink2020 yay! So glad we all had positive news today! It’s so amazing to see baby and try to get your head around that it’s inside you isn’t it?! Smile

@Onekidnoclue hope the NHS scan goes well tomorrow. Even if the one today wasn’t overly professional I guess it was nice to see Babba again! All ok since you lost the twin? Have you felt ok about that? Hugs!

Tink2020 · 08/07/2020 22:33

My partner was amazed that things were so clear already. Straight away he said ‘just one’ then noticed the arms and legs. Was so surreal, still seems so strange xx

Onekidnoclue · 09/07/2020 11:29

Just back from NHS scan. So much better than yesterday. The sonographer was really good and it was lovely. We got an NT measurement of 2.9 which seems high but will wait for the full results before I have a moment!
They measured and move my dd forward. Am now 15th which is a bit too close to NYE for me. My husbands reaction was. We are not going anywhere for Christmas!

Haha fingers crossed it stays put. I am glad I am due the end of Jan 🤣🙃

Dia12 · 09/07/2020 11:55

Oh lovely news about yourscans @Tink2020 @onekidnoclue.
Husbands are entertaining creatures aren't they?! Mine keeps telling me he's all his dumb stuff out his system before he has to be a proper grown up next year!!!

MissHoney85 · 09/07/2020 12:29

@Onekidnoclue congrats on your scan! I'm in the same position of being slightly worried about the NT measurement... It's well below 3.5 but seems higher than average. I accidentally got my OH worried about it yesterday too and we spent the evening stressing and googling. Sometimes a little knowledge is a bad thing! Now I'm anxiously waiting for the phone to ring and trying to take my mind off it.

MissHoney85 · 09/07/2020 12:30

@Dia12 mine convinced me to let him buy a drone as his 'last' treat to himself before we have no money to spend!

Dia12 · 09/07/2020 12:33

My god they are all the same!!!!!

Onekidnoclue · 09/07/2020 13:14

They really are all the same! 😂

@MissHoney85 it’s so stressful. I read that there’s a 77% chance of no Down syndrome for 3.5m and below but I want a definitive answer! I’m nearly 40 so higher risk anyway and getting really worried.

lydiangel83 · 09/07/2020 13:56

Those who have had NT testing was that part of your 12 wk scan or did u pay extra for harmony tests?

SnookyPook · 09/07/2020 14:28

@lydiangel83 - your midwife should have asked if you want it at your booking appointment. It’s routinely offered but you can refuse it if you don’t want it. If you agree, it adds a few mins to the scan time while they check the fluid around baby’s neck. They also add the screening to your bloods.

Onekidnoclue · 09/07/2020 14:30

Part of the standard NHS scan. They measure the fluid at the back of the baby’s neck which is the NT measurement. A higher measurement can indicate some chromosomal issues. They combine the NT measurement with your age, weight and the levels of some proteins in your blood to give you a probability for your baby having one of three conditions, Downs, Edwards and Patau. Downs is the most ‘mild’ the other two are incompatible with life.

@Onekidnoclue I just caved and called the screening midwife under the pretense of wanting to know how soon I would hear back, but hoping she would just tell me over the phone. Fortunately my paperwork happened to be on the top of her pile so I got to hear my results there and then - all nice and low, 1/2500 for Downs and in the tens of thousands for the other two. It's a massive weight off my mind. I can recommend calling them 48 hours or so after your appt if you haven't heard by then, they seemed fine about telling me.
