I'm 19 weeks pregnant and nearly the whole time I've been pregnant I've gone between having constipation or diarrhea. I feel less uncomfortable after I've had diarrhea but the stomach cramps before hand are horrible.
I'm really not eating much (still 3 meals a day but no extras) as that seems to make it worse so haven't actually gained any weight yet but baby is growing fine.
This is my second and I don't remember it being this bad with my first (just a bit of constipation).

Any advice? More fibre / less fibre?

I won't see my midwife again until I'm 22 weeks and it's hard to get hold of my gp at the moment plus I'd rather not bother them with something relatively trivial.

Any advice would be great. I’m 11+6 and just come off the toilet. Last week was awful constipation, I looked about 30 weeks pregnant but these last 3 days I can’t keep off the toilet and don’t know how I can just make it ‘normal’.. in a way so glad I’m not the only one, even googled is it normal? Hope it eases for you soon!! Xxx

Ladies speak to your pharmacist about what you can take to help you go to the toilet.
Unfortunately there is nothing you can take for diarrhoea as I had it terrible for over a week and when I spoke to my GP she sent a sample off to make sure I didn't have a bacterial infection but couldn't prescribe me anything, as there is nothing you can take to stop you going.
Just keep drinking plenty of fluids and just eat little and often.
The only thing I can think of to make you go is prune juice!

Fybogel and lactulose are ok for pregnancy but I'm worried they could make the diarrhea worse on those days Sad

Don't take it straight away and see how your bowels go on that day. If you have diarrhoea one day and don't go the next don't take it. Only take it if you haven't been for a couple of days as you could just be aggravating the diarrhoea.
If you can try and not take anything at all and stick with drinking plenty of water and see how you get on.
If it continues after a few days you do need to check with your GP as there could be something underlying that needs sorting with antibiotics x
