Sorry for the lengthy post!

I'm 19 weeks pregnant, just starting to feel baby move like little butterflies in my tummy for the past week or two. Saturday morning I woke up in extreme pain in my right side and couldn't get out of bed, a hour passed and the pain dulled and I was able to get up, got on with my day as usual but was feeling the odd shooting pain. Sunday again the odd shooting pain in my right side thought the day and if sat/led towards my right side the pain would come on. I had not felt the baby move since getting the pain so rang the midwife, she said she's not worried and to see how you get on. Monday morning I woke at half 5 in extreme pain in my right side again. Rang the midwife again, she told me to ring 111 to get advice. A doctor from 111 told me to go to a&e. So went to a&e, with the pandemic I had to be on my own so felt very vulnerable beeing in so much pain. I was taken to a bay in majors, not spoke to much, a doctor came in done an ecg and blood pressure then left. Another doctor came in took bloods and put a cannula in but again barley spoke to me and didn't explain what they were testing my blood for. Then another doctor came, asked me to do a urine sample, again no explanation. I then sat for an hour, with no signal on my phone and really worried. Finally a different doctor came, asked me how I felt, felt around my belly then did a brief scan for about a minute. Baby is fine moving about and had a heartbeat, had flipped completely the opposite way since we saw him 3 weeks ago. The doctor then said my bloods are normal, baby is fine and he's not concerned about the pain. Then I was sent home, nobody actually told me what they tested my bloods and urine for. I have since been getting the pain more frequently and was up every hour in the night with the pain. The pain comes if I sit to the right side, lay on my right side, roll over in bed, bend down to put shoes on, when I first sit down and pass urine.

I think it could be either ovary pain or appendicitis.

I had something similar at about 11 weeks with my DD. It happened twice and I went to hospital both times. It was the most excruciating pain I’ve ever had and it was frightening because they seemed to completely ignore my pain as I was pregnant and the baby was fine. I was ready to jump off the roof of the hospital.

They never did find out what the pain was but I think it was either a cyst on my right ovary bursting or my right ovary twisting on itself.

The trouble when you’re pregnant is that they admit you to maternity rather than A&E, and on maternity they are only concerned with making sure the baby is okay. I remember at one point a consultant from another part of the hospital came over to see me and she seemed really concerned.

But of course if you are pregnant they won’t do an X-ray or mri or give you any substantial pain relief.

Hope the pain subsides for you OP. I never got the pain again and this pregnancy I’ve been fine. Although my right ovary was enlarged on ultrasound early on in this pregnancy and I do get pain when the baby punches me in my right side or sometimes if I lie on my right side and the weight of the baby presses on my ovary. Or when DD now 6 comes and leaps on my stomach and hits the lower right side.

It’s interesting what you said about sitting down and peeing because that’s when I would get pain too for a while after those two episodes.

Do you usually get ovary pain around the time of ovulation?

So called the doctors today and they got me an appointment at the early pregnancy unit, I'm 1 week away from being able to ring myself and get an appointment at the day unit. My docor said they will do a more detailed scan to see if they can see anything as a&e only did a very quick one.

Once again they just felt around my tummy said it felt normal and said it's probably ligament pain and to take paracetamol to ease the pain. Didnt scan me to see if they could see anything 😔

I've got my 20 week scan in a week so will mention it again then
