37 weeks pain after appointment

Hi. I’m 36w5d with first baby.
Had an appointment today with my lovely midwife, she wanted to check baby’s position so she had me lie on the bed, take a deep breath in, and then she used both of her hands to feel where baby was and was kind of pushing and prodding him to see where he was sitting. She was apologising as she knew I was uncomfortable but it was over quickly. (Please note that I’m aware this is normal and I’m not trying to make out like she’s done something wrong haha.) The baby is 4/5 engaged, cephalic and on 90th centile for weight. I am very tall and slender so my bump is literally all baby 😂

After I left I’ve had a killer pain right on my tailbone a bit like how my SPD was in my second trimester (this has gotten better tho) as well as cramp all over, back pain, and almost hot flushes! Went to the garage, B&M, and Tesco after to try and walk him into a better position but I was in agony and almost convinced I was having my baby in B&M 🤣 I got into my car and couldn’t actually sit properly because the pain against my tailbone was so bad and the dull cramps were distracting. The appointment was at 11am

I just wanted to know if that’s normal? I’m a very anxious mum and just want to know that this is all okay. Thanks :)

No one can really say because every pregnancy is different tbh. A cramping feeling when you've been prodded and pushed isn't uncommon but I don't remember it lasting hours with either of mine. It may be that you are going into labour a little early particularly if your dates are slightly off and you've got a big baby anyway. No point worrying too much just yet. Have a relaxing night and hopefully things will settle down, but if the pain gets worse or your waters go or you have a show get onto your midwife.

I was in hospital over the weekend and I had this happen too! They checked on two occasions if the baby’s head was engaged. Ever since then my front bit of pelvis is so sore if catch it wrong when sit or stand/go to walk. I’m just behind you 36+4.

Hope goes for you soon! Xx
