12 week scan experiences?

Evening Everyone,

Hope you're all well. I have my 12 week scan on Tuesday and obviously been told my husband can't come which is fine, but I was wondering if anyone else had had their scan during Covid and were you allowed to film a clip of it on your phone?

I know in normal circumstances they don't allow it (my husband missed our 20 week scan with DD1 due to work and they wouldn't let me) but I would love for him to be able to hear a little heartbeat.

Oh and I'm in Sussex.

Many thanks

I asked at 12 and 20 week scans and both times was told no to photos or video recordings.
My midwife did let me record the heartbeat when she used the doppler at one of my appts though (I think it was 28 weeks)

Sorry OP but I wasn't allowed either when I went in alone.
Both on my 12 & 20 week scan.
There has been the odd poster on this forum that have been allowed so might be the lucky ones.
It definitely worth the ask but just be prepared for them to say no.

No filming or photos, but there isn’t any sound on any of the NHS scans I’ve had anyway.

The midwife suggested I film at my 16 week appointment when she used the doppler, that was the first time I heard the heartbeat. Then I played it to partner when I got home.

Scan pics were free though!

Ah thanks all, I guess no harm in asking, they can only say no. Such a shame as I think that scans are the only time it really feels real for my husband, other than that it's just me moaning, eating and sleeping!

I had my 12 week scan Wednesday just gone, and as in the waiting room and actual ultrasound room it said no videos/photos.. however mid way though my scan the lovely lady said she will put a clip together of 10 seconds so I could video it after!! Was so so surprised... either way, congratulations and more than anything, just enjoy it 😊 x

I was allowed. She stopped and said baby was really active and did I want to take a short film for dh. Was very unexpected but very lovely.

Hi, I'm in Scotland and I was allowed to record a 10 second clip of the baby on my phone at my 12 week scan. I'd imagine it'll be the same at the 20 weeks too. If you're looking for more pics etc, it might be worth getting a private scan, we got one at 11 weeks so my boyfriend could be there and they sent all images and videos to my phone, I have over 34 images and 4 videos now to keep forever. Scan was £50 but it was well worth it for the fact my boyfriend could be there!

I was allowed to take photos but didnt ask to film. I also got given lots of lovely printed photos to take home as my husband couldn't come in with me.
We did also book a private scan for 16 weeks so he could come too, we heard heartbeat together for the first time, well worth doing! Good luck and enjoy it all :)

I’m in Scotland and was also allowed a short video at my 12 week and 20 week scan. The lovely ladies doing my scans took both videos for me off their screen which is a bit clearer. The clip had to be completely silent - they weren’t allowed to speak or point out any features etc and could only be around 10 seconds long but was lovely for DH to get a little clip at least! Fingers crossed you’ll be allowed but I know many people on here haven’t been able to!
