Ceoliac

Is there anyone on here who's got ceoliac and pregnant? Or someone that's had a baby.

I found out at the beginning of April that I have ceoliac disease, due to Covid I've been able to see a dietitian.

I then went on to have a MC during April. Obviously I can't pin point if having this was the cause, but I've recently just found out I'm pregnancy again. And really worried it'll happen again. Just want some kind of reassurance, or knowledge if it does affect birth weights as the internet says.

Hi, not much help but my mum has it and i was 10lb12 and my brother was 11lb8! So not linked to low birthweight in her case (if that was your worry)

@orangetangerines Thankyou for your reply! It's good to know, think I possibly need to stop googling 🤣x

My friend does and she has 3 children, 2 eldest also have it but youngest still to be tested. All good birth weights x

I'm a Coeliac, two babies, one is 9 months and the other is now 3. Good, healthy pregnancies, full term with no issues. I even got glutened twice in the first one with no ill effects. Both babies were 9lb+. Just make sure you stick to a GF diet and you'll be fine. Also, books and the Internet were way more help to me than the dietician. Good luck!

@TwoPlugs thanks for your reply' I may look into getting some books, just so hard to get used to it all. But I need to stick to a solid GF diet now, to help all chances!x

I’m coeliac and have had two healthy pregnancies and one more on the way. As the poster above says, if you stick to the diet all will be well. It can be linked with poor fertility and miscarriages in undiagnosed coeliacs, but if you’ve been eating no gluten since April you should be ok and your gut should have started the mending process. Take a good prenatal vitamin. I also took iron when I was first diagnosed as it takes a while for gut to fully heal and this absorb stuff properly again. Good luck Smile

Both babies were good weights, second nearly 10lb!
